presentation of the 1000 DB5 R 2006
have you ever heard of the exclusive? And when it's mixed with top-of-the-range... No need to look any further, you're at Bimota. The small factory is now multiplying the variations on its DB5. After the roadster version (the DB6 Delirio), this sporty car of a different taste is now available in an S version to enjoy its charms together, and an R version presented here.
The recipe is familiar, but still makes our mouths water. Take a sports car, possibly with a catchy name (at random, a DB5...), add top-of-the-range materials, mix it all up and serve it with the most sparkling decoration possible. So, under its Italian dress, the DB5 R keeps its trust in Öhlins for its suspension. Then how about OZ Racing wheels in forged aluminum? In between, we'll fit Brembo and 320 mm brake discs (298 mm on the standard version) - braking is of course all radial, from the calipers to the pump. To spice things up, we've added carbon for the fairing, air intakes and all the usual plastic parts. A touch of fun with a cut-out clutch housing (housing a limited-slip system) and a selection of nice little parts, and the right amount of noise with two titanium Zard exhausts. And wham, here's a Bimota transformed into a little jewel. The machine loses 7 kilos in the process, but gains no horsepower. The air-cooled Ducati twin desmo remains, pending a possible upgrade to the 1100 found on the Mulitstrada and the next Hypermotard.
