Last year, the R 1250 GS wanted to end its career on a high note before the arrival of the 1300, resulting in an Ultimate edition with equipment galore.
The Adventure is following the same trajectory. Its days as a 1250 are numbered, so we might as well treat ourselves to one last special series, loaded as a mule.

BMW has packed almost its entire catalog into this GSA Ultimate Edition. It starts with special badges on the handguards, handlebars and panniers. The "Ultimate" color is based on "Triple Black", to which BMW has added piping, rims and the GS logo on the tank in gold finish. A special key fob has been added, which won't be of much use as the bike is equipped with the Keyless system.

This 1250 GS Adventure comes with almost all packs, and adds distinction with a selection of 719 parts. Aluminum panniers and a top case are also included. You'll have to write a hefty check, but there's no need to use the configurator - we've never seen a GS with so many on-board components.

- Comfort Pack with chrome manifold and exhaust, tire pressure monitoring, heated grips and keyless entry system
- Light Pack with adaptive cornering lights, additional lights, multifunction lights/clignos, daytime running light signature and Pro high beam.
- 2 aluminum suitcases with 80-liter capacity
- 32-liter aluminum top case
- Enduro aluminum engine mount

All this adds up to a hefty premium over the base price. But BMW Nederland is making an effort, and will be offering buyers a customer benefit of 2,600 euros. For the moment, only 200 units of the R 1250 GS Adventure Ultimate Edition are planned: 100 for the Netherlands and the other half for Belgium.

An abundance bordering on luxury, driven by the big twin with 136 hp and 14.5 mkg. This engine will soon give way to the very modern and sophisticated 1300. More powerful, but with a different character. The 1250 doesn't fall short, far from it, and still boasts a strength and filling perfectly in keeping with the GS Adventure's aircraft-carrier approach.
