presentation of the R 1200 GS ADVENTURE 2007
The second generation of BMW "Adventure" models, this time based on the 1200 GS. With the number of adventurers on the rise, BMW had to come up with a worthy successor to the R 1150 GS Adventure. With the technological innovation of the 1200, the Bavarian manufacturer's new "round-the-world-ready" motorcycle is feeling its wings grow.
the Adventure isn't just another big trail bike grafted with 2 suitcases. It's a real development of the GS, prepared to take you to the very edge of civilization. Based on the 1200, this off-road version features a 33-liter fuel tank, tubular profiles to protect the tank and cylinders, a larger bubble, 20 mm more suspension travel, wider footrests combined with an adjustable brake pedal and gear selector, and a height-adjustable seat.
All the technical features of the 1200 GS, such as the excellent 1170 cm3 Boxer engine, the new version of the Telelever, the new Paralever swingarm and the new on-board electronics, are also present. As a result, the new Adventure is lighter than the 1150, albeit better equipped, and much more powerful (+15% power) with the new flat-twin.
In terms of design, BM has taken the lively style of the standard 1200 and given it a trekking suit. You'll immediately want to go for a ride on African trails or in the Australian countryside.
a few points to note
the fuel tank is 3 liters larger than the old 1150 Adventure and 13 liters larger than the basic 1200, giving a theoretical range of 750 km at 90 km/h.
In addition to the tank and cylinder guards, small aluminum guards protect the cylinder head covers.
The bike features a generous, rigid stainless-steel luggage rack that can be fitted with an optional aluminum top-case. For longer trips, large aluminum side cases are also available as an option.
The light-alloy handlebars are fitted with plastic-coated foam impact protection. Handguards are standard.
The R 1200 GS Adventure is fitted as standard with robust, tried-and-tested cross-spoke wheels.
The alternator delivers an extra 120 W.

- BMW Motorrad Integral Sport ABS (disengageable).
- Off-road tires (at no extra cost).
- Anti-theft alarm.
- Chrome exhaust system.
- Heated grips.
- White turn signals.
- Aluminum luggage rack.
- Additional headlamps.
- On-board computer.
how about a bit of Camel-Trophy with this bike? I'm sure it would like to go further.

Another strong point is its impressive range: on a trip to the Alps, I covered over 700 kms on a full tank, in leisurely cruising mode admittedly, but all the same!
The qualities: comfort, handling, roadholding, ease of use, range, load capacity, protection, motorization, extra cardan shaft..
Weak points: the high price of the indispensable options!!! a clutch that tends to feel hot very quickly!
If I had to do it all over again, I'd definitely buy the same one!!!

The visual is nothing compared to the ride... On a ride in the Black Mountains, on roads riven with traps, I sometimes had to force myself to keep up with this incredible pachyderne! There's nothing in this mass that would suggest such easy handling! What's more, it's comfortable and has good protection... in the end, it's more of a GT than a trail bike, because on the road... you need a hell of a technique, and arms to lift it up!
a tool for the wealthy giant ....... Rating : 5/5 Respond to DAFY
Up until now, I've been riding RTs (in R or K), so I thought I'd change to see... I'm not disappointed with my 1200GS Adventure, I love it......... Rating : 5/5 Respond to marco
Comments on the ride after 1000km: Be careful, it's causing trouble now. As I get the hang of it, I brake less hard at the start of bends, so there's less mass transfer to the front, which results in a very 1200gs cornering experience (surprising, isn't it?).Cornering is disconcertingly easy, and the tips of the feet no longer rub against the asphalt as they do on the 1200gs, which is why the height of the footrests or the position of the feet is different, given the height of the saddle (my crocodile boots are eternally grateful for this; I'm joking). The state of the roads, broken up and degraded after the winter, really has no effect on the choice of trajectories, as the work of the suspension is beyond reproach.Clearly, you can angle wherever you want, EXCEPT in the wet, on black rubber connectors (to be avoided). It's a good idea to slow down on recumbent gendarmes, which transmit a slight shock to the front end that the paralever can't cope with very well, although a little better than on the 1200gs. (The old 1150 adventure was imperial in this kind of jump, who knows why?) The bubble protection, enhanced by a Touratech universal deflector (I'm 1.90m tall, so the height of the bubble is limited) eliminates all the whistling and other parasitic noises to which my 1200gs had previously accustomed me (not well). I look forward to reading your feedback

Clumsy color combinations aside, the result is impressive: bigger and taller than the 1150 adventure, and more powerful and lighter
A must-have for anyone over 1.85 m tall with an understanding banker, especially with all the options, the price tag is as colossal as the machine itself... Rating : 5/5 Respond to onze100cin
