presentation of the R 1200 GS Rallye 2017
Still confident of its supremacy, the R 1200 GS has quietly evolved to remain a must-have model in its class. A stronger silhouette, new options including the 'Next Generation' ESA Dynamic, fuel injection and catalytic converter upgrades to meet Euro4 standards, and no loss of power, since the big Bavarian trail still boasts 125 hp and 12.7 mkg.
miss GS doesn't just come in a wide range of displacements(310, 700, 800); it also comes in a wide range of versions. Standard for the most part, Exclusive for the most road-going, and Rallye for those more tempted by its adventurous side.
A revival of the 2012 special series? Not exactly, but it's close. The BMW R 1200 GS Rallye immediately stands out with its sporty color scheme, its invasive blue sprinkled with the armor of the Motorsport department. The frame has no desire to be discreet, as it gets excited by the blue lacquering. It sets the pace. Next, the equipment is enriched with everything you need to tackle raid and discovery terrain. Spoke wheels come as standard, with studded tires available as an option. To boost the rider's performance, this GS benefits from a more ergonomic seat, a lower sports bubble and wider, enduro-style footrests.
in terms of protection, the GS is reinforced, with a radiator grille, hand guards and frame guards for the boots. However, it leaves the Adventure with its armouring based on imposing side tubes. Cylinder guards are also available.
To round out the Rallye's potential, you can opt (as an option) for a firmer Sport chassis, with stiffer springs. In addition, the increased length of the spring/shock combinations, offering more travel, makes for a more optimistic ride over rough terrain. However, you'll need ESA Dynamic to take advantage of this improvement.
To clarify the differences, the Rallye features stainless steel radiator caps and gold-tinted brake calipers.
the R 1200 GS Rallye enhances the potential of the queen of trail bikes, with its greater climbing ability and more dynamic stance. More distinctive, more efficient, it offers its best only by drawing extensively on the catalog of options - like all BMWs. Above all, it recaptures a distinctly adventurous side that maxi-trailers can only dream of.
