presentation of the G 310 R 2022
BMW's smallest roadster gets a facelift. Only half, in fact, but it's enough to make you notice its new face. The G 310 R / G 310 GS duo has enabled the brand to open up to a more modest clientele. Above all, it's an opportunity to put the Bavarian badge on motorcycles for emerging markets. The Eldorado is over there. While Euro 5 has imposed a few changes, these are much more noticeable on the roadster than on the trail bike.
Indeed , the GS 's physique hasn't changed a bit. The G 310 R, on the other hand, goes one step further, so why not take advantage of these moments of refreshment to change your face! An unwavering desire to resemble the big roadsters in the range has led the scalpel to the face of the bike. More aggressive and sharper, the headlight assembly and cladding undeniably mimic the S 1000 R's face. The daytime running light signature links all the R models in the range, including the F 900 R and R 1250 R. All lighting is now LED.
More modern, but not too modern. The instrument cluster remains an LCD model, whereas we were expecting a TFT panel to match the Duke 390. Is the market still skittish? It's true that only the Katoche is equipped with one in its class.
With new side covers between the radiator scoops and the new fuel tank, the G 310 R looks more serious - or more rugged. Underneath, the powertrain hasn't really changed, but it has been reworked for Euro5. Installed upside down in the frame (intake is from the front), the 313 cm3 single is cleaner, retains the same power figures - 34 hp and 3 mkg - and receives a few minor tweaks.
First of all, an anti-dribble clutch. You don't really have to worry about a backlash at this level of potato, but you never know when you're pulling in 12 gears on a rainy evening... The gain will be much more noticeable in the left hand, where the clutch requires less effort.

The BMW G 310 R is manufactured in India by the very important TVS Motor Company. Low cost, but not cheap. This roadster features a distinctive silhouette, 41 mm inverted forks, 4-piston Bybre front brake calipers (a sub-brand of Brembo) and ABS. The frame is tubular steel and the swingarm aluminum. The brand claims a top speed of 143 km/h and fuel consumption of just over 3 liters per 100 km.
A little 'titanium grey' paint on the crankcases and a few other parts, some new colors, a small price increase and the G 310 R is back on the road. Nothing has changed on the chassis, suspension or brakes, except that the wheelbase has been shortened by 6 mm.
With this more dynamic look and this update, BMW's smallest roadster continues to make its presence felt. It won't be its best-seller, but it's a good way to get started on a BM roadster without having to start with a 900.
