presentation of the 1800 R 18 100 Years 2023
BMW was born in 1916. However, the motorcycle adventure began a little later. In 1923, the first born of the Motorrad branch saw the light of day. It was called the R32, had a cubic capacity of 500 cm3 and already contained the genes of a technical scheme still valid today.
2023 marks the centenary of the Munich motorcycle. For the occasion, two models from the Heritage range will celebrate the festivities - the NineT and the R18. the Boxer engine is in the limelight, and the R18 100 Years Edition will be showcasing it and SE.
For those unfamiliar with BM's "Option 719", this is an excellent opportunity to discover this customization department. This big custom gains a whole series of chrome-plated parts: foot controls, brake calipers, front crankcase cover, cylinder head covers, rear-view mirrors, handlebar ends, brake master cylinders, intake manifold trim and handlebar clamps. A colorful two-tone saddle with good padding completes the look.
Being a centenary recipient demands a certain majesty. And the R18 is all about glitz and glamour! Teutonic stylists have concocted a dress in which the tank's cheeks are napped in chrome, while its back is plunged in black. A "100 Years" crest with the serial number is prominently displayed below the filler cap.
A few touches of Avus Black paint cover the engine, while white piping, true to Béhème's image, runs the length and breadth of the machine, playing with its finesse on the mudguards and fuel tank.
Akrapovic mufflers are optional. It's a shame, though, as they provide a gravellier sound and a clearer view of the driveshaft. The R18 range is the only one in the manufacturer's range to leave its transmission bare, allowing you to appreciate the shaft and its gears. The finish goes so far as to include a muffler end cap in the same shape as the BMW logo.

Throttle commands are, however, somewhat supervised. Electronics on board the R18 include 3 Driving Modes, ASC traction control, MSR torque control and keyless start.
This anniversary version takes over the PRO trim level. Specifically, it adds heated grips, electric reverse, adaptive cornering light, hill-start assist, an alarm, cruise control and a keyless fuel filler cap.
The BMW R18 100 Years will only be sold in limited numbers... and emblematic. I was telling you about the 1923 R32 earlier.... It was precisely this number that was chosen for the distribution of this very distant descendant. So, 1923 examples at a very reasonable price: 25 plates to be fitted for a piece of Bayerische Motoren Werke history.
