presentation of the Lawrence Dagger 2024
Some associations seem eternal. Rossi with his 46, Charlize Theron with Dior, Guido with his Ducat' shit, and Brough Superior with Lawrence of Arabia. The revolt of the sands seems to guide the Anglo-French manufacturer, right up to this third version of the Lawrence, mysteriously named Dagger.
The name is yet another reference to the British officer of the last century. While the Nefud recalls the desert crossed to capture Aqaba, the Dagger is associated with the dagger that T.E. Lawrence received as a gift on the occasion of this military victory.
It' s a cutting-edge design. This roadster shows a desire to be incisive. Not like an Italian or British streetfighter, but more so than other models in the range. Indeed, the machine exudes an aggressiveness to which the brand has not accustomed us.
This is mainly due to the carbon fork head, tortured by angles and a somewhat surly cap. From the outset, it's clear that this bike stands out from the crowd, taking the brand to a new level. This Dagger has taken on technology..... and guts compared to other Broughs. The imposing radiator, engine cowl and under-engine exhaust have all been successfully integrated, but this inevitably leads to some extra bulk under the chest. By the grace of the eye, the engine is always free to show itself, to expose itself, to let itself be admired.
After all, it's the engine that causes this break in abdominal design. The 1000 cm3 twin has been upgraded to comply (at last) with Euro5 standards. The factory announces more power and torque, but without specifying the proportions. Standards and choices have eliminated the high side exhausts in favor of a low element with an integrated valve.
Majestically carved as if by Auguste Houillon, the engine's golden crankcases and cylinder head covers affirm its passion and prestige. A good hundred or so horses will be revving inside, to drive a machine with a more playful temperament.......

But when it comes to dynamism in this niche market, the word has to be put into perspective. Motorcycling evolves in a world of elegance and fine manners, where violence gives way to propriety. Already, when you want dynamism with "only" a quintal of horsepower to manage, it's better to have a 160 rear tire and a wheelbase that's not too long. This is not the case with the Dagger, with its 1,540 mm wheelbase - around 100 mm longer than a BMW S 1000 R or a Honda CB 1000 R.
But as we've said, this bike doesn't belong in the same world as the rufians of the road. Here, it's all about noble materials and an eye for luxury. The Brough Dagger stands out with its titanium frame, Fior-type aluminum fork, Beringer brake calipers on 320 mm discs, carbon parts, superb timepiece-style counter, handcrafted workmanship and construction. A true jewel, faithful to the high-end reputation that Georges Brough had instilled in his entire production.
The Brough Superior Dagger will be sold at an elitist price and thus distributed on a small scale. An excellent way to enter the closed circle of Saudi emirs, Monegasque royalty and French-tech stars; or simply lovers of French excellence.
