derived from the standard XB-12 S, the SS benefits from the evolutions made on the new Ulysses, all with the aim of offering more space on board, and a slightly less radical behavior. A longer frame, a new swingarm, a more open column angle (from 21 to 22°) and an increase in headroom from 84 to 119 mm all have multiple consequences: firstly, an increase in wheelbase and space to fit on this tiny machine. Secondly, a dose of extra range - the frame acts as a fuel tank, and the lengthening of its side members increases fuel capacity: + 2.2 L. Lastly, the street-fighter's handling is less aggressive, though it should remain lively and playful. A new gearbox and a stronger drive belt have also been added. From now on, you can choose between the mini Buell and the micro Buell.

Side by side, hang on to recognize the S from the SS... unless you've got a laser rangefinder handy. Damned, which is the big one? Just step over one to find out. Once you're in the saddle, the differences are obvious.on). Above all, it's life on board that's changed, improved and friendlier. The new seat is much more comfortable, and even allows you to take a passenger, something virtually impossible with the XB-12 S. The engine is unchanged and remains a big, heavy, voracious wattage factory - but with the SS and its longer range, you can enjoy it for longer.
With its reworked geometry, the XB-12 SS is no longer a turbulent, over-vibrant kid. Entering a curve reveals a certain laziness in the front end. It becomes necessary to insist, to impose the desired trajectory. Once underway, the Buell shows its new card: greater stability. The 12 SS is less nervous, more reassuring, more accommodating - in short, less of a hothead.
By adding an S, the XB-12 goes from being a wild pocket bike to a wisely deviant compact machine. A great way to discover the world of Buell without getting lost in it.
