presentation of the 1000 DB6 DELIRIO 2006
how could anyone have chosen a name other than "Delirio" for this surprising roadster? From the tip of the headlight to the triangular exhausts, the impact is total. Hyper-aggressive, muscular, sharp, the styling of the DB6 Delirio is even more pronounced than that of the sporty DB5 from which it derives. But the latter looks almost gentle by comparison.
Yet roadsters are not Bimota's specialty. The last roadster to come out of the Italian factory, the DB3 Mantra, dates back to 1995. And like it, the DB6 borrows Ducati's large air-cooled desmo engine. At the time, it was a 900; as part of its evolution, the new model borrows the 1000.
Which is not to say that Bimota is conformist. The twin is the only thing that seems to be borrowed from the series. Everything else on the Delirio seems to have been created in a moment of madness by one creator, intended solely for a particular soul. Here, each piece sets its own conditions. After the eye, it's the ear that reaches for the anti-friction Marzocchi inverted fork, the tubular steel frame and swingarm, and the furious pots that fan the rear of the machine... all on the lookout for the slightest call to "Start us up - take us on a ride to the exceptional!
