presentation of the 125 Terra Adventure 2009
when the wind blows hot, leaving a few particles of sand in your hair and thoughts, you start dreaming of great horizons, big wheels and trails to conquer. Problem: a motorcycle designed for raids often displaces 1.2 liters, shakes 2 big pistons, weighs 250 kg, and requires a check equivalent to a year's salary. Fortunately, there's one manufacturer who doesn't give up and dares to offer the same concept in a new displacement. Derdi has profoundly modified its 125 Terra to turn it into a real little rally-raid bike: the Terra Adventure.
everything is there, and nothing is missing: the adventurous profile, a large 21' front wheel, spoked rims, high seat height and suspension travel, optional aluminum panniers and top-case, a high bubble, aluminum engine cowling, package carrier, treaded tires and handguards; what's more, the machine's stature is aplomb. It's a far cry from the basic 125 you carry under your arm. With a good 41 mm fork and 300 mm brake disc, the front end of this 125 has not been neglected. Nor has the engine, which proves vigorous at mid-range and healthy at the top of the rev counter. Of course, with its 15 horsepower, it can't compete with the machines in its adventurous segment, all packed with cm3 and torque. Can we judge it on that? Absolutely not, especially for a machine weighing 136 kg, almost twice as light as the R 1200 GS Adventure, the flagship of the category. Both the single and the machine are at ease in town, and no slouch on the road. Comfort is more than appreciable, thanks in large part to the supple suspension and welcoming seat.
smelling of stony, sandy tracks, the Terra Adventure makes you want to try out roads and more, if you're so inclined. This excursion is limited by the tires' profile: you can ride the trails between the fields, but it won't go as far as the enduro stage. What's more, the 11-liter fuel tank won't take you to the ends of the earth, although fuel consumption is more than reasonable.
Derbi has done very well to give us a 125 with the profile of Benjamin Gates. At ease in both urban and off-road environments (it even prefers the latter), the Terra Adventure offers us the same flavor as some of the stars(R 1200 GS, 990 Adventure, 660 Ténéré, etc.) for a very reasonable price. Financially speaking, a 4,000-euro bill for the spirit of the dunes and the rocks is no mean feat.

I fitted an Oring chain kit and Metzeler Sahara TT tires to feel more at ease in the TT spirit, with incredible crossings. 800 kms in 2 years without a hitch! There's also a 200 cc kit available in Spain... Rating : 5/5 Respond to alfajeff
