presentation of the 748 R 2000
representing the pinnacle of the 748 lineage, the R model is above all a pretext for entering the machine in the World Supersport Championship with top gear. As sublime as ever in its 916 dress, the 748 R costs an eyeful (almost the price of a 996) and is produced in 1,000 units per year. Once you've shaved off a hefty cheque, you'll find yourself the owner of a beautiful jewel of meticulous design. Under the fairing is nothing less than the frame used by the WSBK 996. It accommodates a larger airbox and is equipped with Showa sport suspension: 43 mm inverted fork and shock absorber from the same manufacturer. The new 5-spoke wheels by Marchesini are lighter than the original. The improved braking system is taken directly from the 996 R. Weight is down sharply to just over 190 kg.
On the engine front, new camshafts and 54 mm fuel injection give the Desmoquattro twin a 9 hp boost. The maximum power of the 748 is 106 bhp, and up to 112 bhp with a kit comprising Termignoni carbon mufflers and a special chip. In fact, the mapping will soon tell you that we're not here for fun. Not exactly supple and not very willing to go for a ride, the engine has only one desire: to send the powder and make you understand that you're going to have to ride. That's what the chassis is made for, and if you know how to handle it, the 748 R will give you far more thrills than a Japanese 600 pistarde.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 2 reviews
the driving is incredible, racey, surgical l\e eye fixed on the curve and the bekane takes its turn, at high speed however it fodrat nevertheless l\'aider but if you're nice to it, it'll return the favor.
demonic revving, overpowering braking and an incredible front end make this machine a biptume killer, but beware if it has undeniable qualities it also has terible defaults in particular the non-existent comfort you don't get on a 748 you're so uncertain, you can't see anything in the mirrors, always make sure the screws are tight under the quill, go to ducate to buy some, the bike doesn't start on the bekille like many ducates of that era, so you have to let it warm up sitting on it, or else turn off the system, the consumption is still pretty decent, as for parts and servicing, I haven't yet had the chance to give ducati a cheque, at least not for this one, but knowing them, it'll hurt a lot!
but whatever, it's a monster, a beaute fatale, a machine of cosmic precision that will give you a monster kick, and that's not the main thing. Rating : 5/5 Respond to noz
