presentation of the 996 ST4 S 2003
at first glance, there's nothing to distinguish the S from the standard ST4, or even from the ST2. A new set of controls, an anti-theft device with coded key... Nothing to suggest the beast's potential. Because on this version of Ducati's sport-GT, it's nothing less than the boiling heart of the 996 that rumbles. Sufficiently flexible, the twin provides almost 1 mkg of extra torque. it pushes from 4,000 rpm over a wide rev range. Certainly more efficient in terms of engine performance, the ST4s also gains an Öhlins rear shock absorber. Rigorous and functional, it adapts to the duo in a matter of seconds thanks to a practical knob. With its muscular twin-cylinder engine, the bike is a pleasure to ride. The rider delights in winding roads where the twin's trunk restricts the use of the gearbox. As a good Ducat, the bike's roadholding is beyond criticism, safe and efficient. The same applies to braking, which can be reinforced with ABS in 2003.
