presentation of the 796 MONSTER 2013
there was a time when the Monster family was so turbulent that there was something for every taste and every reason: 695, 800 S2R, 1000 S2R, S4R, S4Rs... But the new generations scattered those who wanted to break free. The Desmoquattro clan went off to live as Streetfighters, and the new Monster series was down to 2 members: the 696 and the 1100. Between these two siblings, one sparkling and the other more demanding, a mid-range model was naturally missing. No problem! With the recent release of theHypermotard 796, Ducati had a new twin on hand that could perfectly power a new roadster. Welcome to the 796 MONSTER.
hi there... ! Giiffllll.... ! Excuse me; hello ma'am. You don't approach the 796 like a common chick. The Ducat has poise and charisma. With its single-spoke design and high-mounted exhausts that fully expose the rear wheel, 43 mm inverted fork, Brembo radial calipers and bright red frame, it mimics the 1100 perfectly. You see it, you don't touch it.
to have the look of the 1100 is to charm you. Being more accommodating and giving you more than the 696 will win you over. The 796 Monster is more urban than it looks. Its 800 mm seat height is 10 mm lower than that of the 1100. Without touching the lines, Ducati has refined the ergonomics by slightly modifying the seat and raising the handlebars by 20 mm. As for temperament, by installing the new 803 cm3 Desmodue (which proves that names can be misleading), the Bologna-based firm offers the 796 a happy medium. Reworked to offer more watts than the HM, the twin produces 87 hp and a good mkg more than the little monster, all available at significantly lower revs. More displacement, more filling power, more availability - few would complain. However, the mid-range Monster series, offering an excellent compromise between big and small, has never been a great success. This new model has given itself more means to captivate the market. And it works: the 796 is the best-selling Monster in France.
red frame, black rims, small piping on the rims... The 796 adds a little windbreaker to the style. ABS is available as an option for a few hundred euros more. And when it comes to colors, Ducati goes off the beaten track by taking its Monster ART concept a step further. In addition to red, black and white, the 796 Monster comes in a wide range of colors entitled Monster ART Logomania. The idea: dresses decorated in a "Memorial" style, with choice references to Ducati glories of yesteryear. For example, you can choose from a grey and blue reminiscent of the Sport 100 of the '50s, a red and white inspired by the 250 Mach 1 of the '60s, the green and red of Mike Hailwood's 900 SS at the Tourist Trophy, etc... and for those who prefer Ducati Corse, there's also a red, white and black deco, like the 1198 s and R Corse Edition limited series.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 6 reviews
No need for an 1100, the 87 hp are enough to enjoy the ride. As far as range is concerned, I'm down to less than 5L and I open up quite a bit on corner exits. As far as tires are concerned, I'm equipped with Bridgestone S22 / S23s, which have a profile that gives good confidence in the bike. A pure delight. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Cacawait
Pure everyday pleasure. Rating : 5/5 Respond to deluisant
As for top speed, I was able to play around on the unrestricted sections, and reached 224mph, yum :D
I also found it impeccable for cushy riding, with acceleration to 3,000rpm making the engine roar, in short, versatile, charming... nothing to complain about!
*note: I've had my license for 3 years, so my opinion is that of a young biker who's still feeling his way around :) Rating : 5/5 Respond to Kadaster
An excellent bike, a little temperamental to get attached to, but very accommodating on a daily basis.
Chassis: rigid suspensions suited to aggressive riding on open roads, and tires that do their job well (though take a while to warm up). Top-notch braking up front, stabilizing the bike in corners at the rear.
Engine: good vibes under 4500rpm, starting to pull hard from 5500rpm. The PSB14 can be lowered to 2000rpm, compared with 3500rpm with the PSB15.
Fuel consumption: 5.6L/100. 200 terminals with reserve.
To sum up: a great wheel that I use every day, it needs to be ridden with the body and not the handlebars, combined with a reluctant engine below 4000rpm and a precise front end; I strongly advise against it as a first bike.
The PSB14 is a must, especially for city traffic.
The Ducati performance kit frees up the engine and reveals the full potential and character of the Monster (and the sound of the Bologna twin!).
Inexpensive in terms of maintenance and insurance, it offers intense pleasure on every outing.
I give it 4/5, because being a pragmatist, I consider that nothing is perfect, but I strongly recommend it as soon as you get a minimum of experience on your first jap bike. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Kh0rne
210 in 5 and about 225 to 8000tours in 6
The only fault is that the first one starts at over 20km/h under the clutch Rating : 5/5 Respond to Jeje
