presentation of the HM 821 Hypermotard SP 2014
work hard, play hard! Bonus points to anyone who can figure out which film this tirade is taken from. Some Ducati models are inspired by it. For fun after a hard week's work, theHypermotard is just the thing for playing in the mountain passes. For hard-core fun, the SP version is more suited to hard or even corrosive riding. Its 821 cm3 twin retains the same parameters: 110 hp and 9.1 mkg, but the electronics and peripherals have been modified accordingly. Undisclosed goal: the track.
the Hypermotard SP's Ducati Safety Pack has been recalibrated, with the addition of Race, Sport and Wet riding modes.
Race: 110 hp, with a "High" RbW, a DTC that intervenes at minimum and a Level 1 ABS, programmed for the front only, which does not prevent the rear wheel from lifting.
Sport: 110 hp, with "Medium" RbW, conventional DTC and Level 2 ABS for high-performance braking and reduced rear-wheel lift.
Wet: 75 hp, with "Low" RbW, maximum DTC intervention and Level 3 ABS for the most stable braking possible, preventing rear wheel lift.
Suspension levels are taken up a notch. The unadjusted 43 mm Kayaba fork gives way to a fully adjustable 50 mm Marzocchi with 15 mm extra travel. The Sachs shock absorber is replaced by an Öhlins unit, with more adjustment and 25 mm more travel.
efficiency! This supermoto is always thinking about efficiency. Improved components are found everywhere to honor this leitmotiv. For example, the rider gets variable-section aluminum handlebars, a seat with more grip, a better radial brake master cylinder with 5 adjustment positions (4 on thestandard HM) and more ground clearance (210 mm). And how about more liveliness during corner changes? The SP has just what you're looking for, with Marchesini forged-aluminum wheels; weight saving: 2 kilos. And, of course, the tires are in keeping with the bike's ambitions. A good pair of Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa SP 120/70 at the front and 180/55 at the rear.

with its raised suspension, the seat of the 821 Hypermotard SP is logically higher. 890 mm, that's starting to peak. Don't panic, a 20 mm lower saddle is available as an accessory.
Materials. Steel, aluminum... and carbon too. Carbon is used for the front mudguard and timing belt covers. A little magnesium too? Yes, for the cylinder head covers.
More expensive, sportier, the SP is also 4 kilos lighter than the Hypermotard. The scales give it a dry weight of 171 kilos. This highly distinctive SP version is aimed above all at experienced bikers.
