presentation of the 1100 Scrambler 2019

The 800 Scrambler is a master stroke from Ducati. Surfing perfectly on the vintage wave, the machine combines fun, first-rate ease, Ducati character, a touch of its history, and a refreshing simplicity. Something for everyone.
The only problem with this kind of bike is that you'll quickly get hooked, and some people will want more. More power, more drive, more watts, more presence. For them, for lovers of big bikes, for those who don't want to be pigeonholed, here's the big Scrambler, with an 1100 in the gut.

Part of the Scrambler's authenticity lies in its mechanics. A good old air-cooled Desmo. The kind of engine that Euro4 (and future standards) aren't too keen on. Yet Ducati has succeeded in getting its 1079 cm3 block to pass the test. It's a twin that enthusiasts know well, and which has made the likes of the 1100 Monster (the model's revival), the Hypermotard and the Multistrada happy. 2 valves per cylinder, cooling fins backed up by an oil cooler, it's got the smell of the 80s and 90s about it. But behind the crankcase, Ducat' has done what it takes to homologate the block. It's lost some of the power of the Monster Evo, but its mid-range carafon will give you emotions that a modern block can't imagine. More than the 86 horsepower, we'll be appreciating the gain in torque. Approximately 9 mkg of torque, which you'll appreciate at the most demanding revs. Weight remains more than reasonable at 189 kilos.

The Scrambler's other strength is its plasticity. Bologna has not taken any risks and has wisely given stylistic strength to a proven silhouette. It's instantly obvious that this is a Scrambler, and a bigger one at that. The tubular steel trellis frame follows the same simplistic layout, but with a twist. The differences are notable: no under-engine muffler, but two under-seat silencers, a chunky aluminum swingarm, a better-built inverted fork, two brake discs instead of one, a more generous tank cover and a richer instrumentation display.

Old-school heart and soul, but technology beyond the connecting rods. The 1100 Scrambler is no stranger to digital technology. On board, you'll find ABS, ride modes, traction control and more. You can expect a higher level of finish while preserving the authenticity of the bike. The confrontation with the segment's heavyweights is a thing of beauty. Ducati 1100 Scrambler vs BMW 1200 NineT vs Honda CB 1100 RS vs Triumph 1200 Bonneville or Thruxton, it's a mouth-watering display, isn't it?

French Model 2019
Superb bike, I use it mainly for touring.
Excellent engine behavior and exhaust noise.
I've had worse in terms of comfort, and the chassis is very sound. I really enjoy taking curves with it (argeles/mer > llansa espagne). However, I don't find it very pleasant or suitable for city use, as it heats up enormously and you often find yourself juggling between 1 and 2, otherwise the bike churns.
I've never taken the freeway with it, but I've ridden on the dual carriageway, and to my great surprise, I find that (compared with other models) I'm "relatively" protected from the wind (after all, it's not madness either).

Well, I like her character, her face, she's a real looker! The detractors be damned! I've got the 800 as my 2nd bike and I'm having the time of my life on twisty roads. I'll definitely be replacing my 800 with this 1100. Nice numbers on paper don't always make for fun riding...Last year I tried out the 1000 Versys, a promising bike on paper, but I got bored behind the wheel…there's something for everyone... Then I'll add another layer: 9 nm of torque for an 1100 twin-cylinder is nothing to brag about! Rating : 3/5

At 13,000 euros for 86 hp, I'm not sure it'll make the difference against Kawa's new 110 hp Z900RS. Rating : 2/5
French Thierry Model 2018
It's cute, it looks like a bike for kids, like the suzuki's from 20 years ago Rating : 4/5

all your examples are motorcycles with torque equal to or below 6000rpm and super long 1st gear... in the mountains it's nice to have a 1st gear that exceeds 130 xD useful for hairpins..
I'd remind you that comparing engines from before the anti-pollution standard isn't very realistic
Fortunately, Ducati and Triumph, with the 1200 THRUXTON and 1200 BONNEVILLE, offer something new in the 200kg range, and the heavier INDIAN FTR 1200 for mountain pass lovers who don't want to go over 100km/h, but feel it before they get there ;)
And for the others, I invite you to try them on real winding roads without touching the red zone, as the engine is not made for this use...
