presentation of the CVO Pan America 1250 2025
Surprising as it may seem, the Pan America has its own CVO version. Harley-Davidson's top-of-the-range customization department had become so accustomed to subjugating customs and Tourers that an execution on a trail bike might seem a little unsettling. After all, it's a Harley, and it has as much right to its Custom Vehicle Operations preparation as the others. Especially as this workshop celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2024.
A CVO is first and foremost an equivocal and flashy paint job, with a high level of presence and finish. The Pan is distinguished by its Legendary Orange color, as well as its Raven Metallic and Atlas Silver tank and fairing. The twin features several carbon-style medallions. An emblematic #1 logo adorns the tank, and a small CVO motif is featured on each pannier. Each bike features CVO 25th Anniversary motifs on the top of the fairing and on the console insert.
On the mechanical side, the trail makes a departure from its letters of nobility. All CVOs have the right to a larger, thicker, more powerful engine than their standard counterparts; still the biggest air-cooled engine available from Harley. Not so for Pan America. No higher-displacement or power-boosted version will be added to its mechanics. Having said that, with 150 grunts in its belly, this trail bike is already copiously powered.
Harley makes up for this by adding a whole kit of luggage. With the Pan America CVO, there's no need to look for a backpack or panniers. It comes out of the garage with everything it needs, designed in partnership with SW-Motech. Its top case can hold 40 liters of gear. As for the panniers, they claim 45 liters on the left and 37 liters on the right - the exhaust requires a little sacrifice in volume. All in all, the Pan-America is very much a trekking model, with an all-aluminium body.

All this equipment has an impact on the scales: the CVO weighs some 40 kg more than the Pan America Special on which it is based. The CVO is already equipped with semi-active suspension, a 17.3 cm color TFT screen, 5 driving modes + 2 programmable ones, and a whole host of driving aids: traction control, ABS, interconnected braking, anti-wheeling and residual torque control - all angle-responsive; tire pressure monitoring, and hill-start assist.
CVO was born in 1999, and has since been applied to virtually all Harley-Davidson models. The 1250 Pan America joins this family of luxuries, with dirt in its ears and big pockets. And of course, the price tag takes a leap forward, with a finish on a par with the sportiest maxi-trailers of the moment(M 1000 XR or Multistrada V4 RS).
