one of the most famous and best-selling Sportster models, theIron 883 has been a rebel from the start. It's not THE best-selling Harley model (that role belongs to the Street Glide), but its success is enough to make you wonder why it never had a big brother.
If you wanted to keep the spirit of the Iron, but with more watts in your shorts, you'd have to take a big step up to the Fat Bob or Low Rider. Harley is going to reconcile all punch lovers with this new 1200 Iron. The Sportster gains "black" stripes and a personality that will displease only one player... the 883.

why is that? Because the 1200 offers a whole lot more for a whole lot more money. Engine-wise alone, this Sportster is no longer in the same league. With almost 10 mkg of torque at just 3,500 rpm, the Evolution twin delivers 36% more torque. Where the 883 leaves big-spoon fans hungry, the brother will put more cream on the dessert. Power-wise, the scales tip without hesitation at 67 hp, 15 more than theoriginal Iron.
So it's just a question of the engine? No, look closely. Here, the little cap has been replaced by a small windscreen. The riding position will also be different, with the addition of mini-ape handlebars. As for the seat provided by the Café Solo saddle, it's a change of register, with a less paunchy front end and a rear end designed to handle recoil. But fans rest assured, this is an Iron, and it shows.

heHarley-Davidson 1200 SPORTSTER IRON 2019 is stocky, stocky, almost boxy. Black, very black, as it should be. Dark is everywhere. On the exhausts, the engine, the forks, the handlebars, the wheels. Small disappointments: the pole ends are no longer polished, and the belt guard is not perforated - which added to the style. On the other hand, the gussets have been retained, as has the mini front mudguard. In fact, there's just enough here to make a difference before the engine confirms the warning.

could there be a more worthy exponent of the vintage spirit than Harley? Locked into this niche and sulfated with authenticity, MoCo further affirms its attachment to the great era of easy-riders with very 70's graphics on the tank. With this Sportster 1200 Iron, you get out the goggles for the West Coast, show off and warm up the rubber.

An excellent bike for leisurely riding. Pleasant on small roads, easy to handle, a little stiff in suspension, comfort is not its first quality, but it remains acceptable over medium distances. The engine is torquey, allowing you to wind without always having to use the gearbox. Engine braking is sufficient, and fuel consumption is around 4.4 to 5 l/100 depending on the route.
To sum up: a very nice and inexpensive little Harley.
