presentation of the Pan America 1250 Special G.I. 2022
The big Harley trail bike, the manufacturer's first and only, gets a military outfit on its back. Khaki green and a big G.I. star are there to celebrate the history of the American army and its business with Milwaukee. This Pan America Special is not for troops or combat, but a reminder of alliances, commitments and men.
H-D supplied motorcycles to the US Army as early as the First World War. But it was during the Second World War that the company created the famous WLA, a multi-role motorcycle that was used in many theaters of operation. Between the models manufactured in the USA and Canada, plus the impressive stock of spare parts, almost 120,000 motorcycles were produced.
The Pan America's paintwork is directly inspired by the "Olive Drab" used for the WLA. The star also reminds us of the Sherman tanks deployed en masse during the war.
But this special series isn't here to make us feel blue for the dark hours. Quite the contrary, in fact. It's part of the new "Enthusiast" collection; a new trend at MoCo, which will produce a new series in limited quantities each year on a particular theme.
It reminds us of the "Icons" class, with an Electra Glide Revival to open the ball... without giving any details for the moment.
No extra equipment, M16s or bonus Rambo posters. Technical specs are exactly the same as the production model. As a reminder, the Pan America Special trail is equipped with a 150 hp twin, additional protection, semi-active suspension, active cornering lights, a 6.8" color TFT screen and a whole host of driving aids; traction control, interconnected braking, hill start assist, torque feedback control, cornering ABS, wheeling control, tire pressure monitoring, cruise control and seven Driving Modes.
The G.I. costs $800 more, and is available with spoke or spoke wheels. It is only available from Uncle Sam, a country where patriotism and military spirit are rooted in the national culture.
