presentation of the CB 1100 BadSeeds 2014
The CB 1100 BadSeeds is Honda's breath of rebellion. The meaning, the ideology, the genesis of this creation? Do you remember the days when sportbikes were made in the back of a garage, in a makeshift workshop between a water heater and a record player? The time when a fiery motorcycle gave birth to a raging café-racer? GSXCB-ZXRRs didn't exist, and the graft of handlebars, a pair of sport amortos and a bit of fairing carried courage to glory. Those days are gone, and hypersports are now the standard-bearers of extreme sport. But the winds of time are caressing the market, and from the gavroches come wishes for nostalgia. The CB 1100 was conceived in this spirit of revival. A roadster that smells of the 70s, the warmth of grumbling steel and the joy of remembering the days of carburetors, rolling-stones and oil-sweating leather jackets. With its BadSeeds variation, the CB 1100 is back on the road to take on the champions of the city and the clocks of the gas stations. The Joe BAR Team for real, in its elegant and charismatic version.
the Honda CB 1100 BadSeeds wasn't born in the street, the fruit of a biker's love affair with a pocket chronometer and a parts catalog. It's the result of a collaboration between graphic designer Olivier Renouf and Honda France. The machine is inspired by the Superbikes of the '80s, with a retro look to match, from the engine fins to the refined butt. There are special parts all over the bike. All homologated and ready for battle in the simplest and most practical legality. A fine way to dress up the CB 1100 vintage 2013, and to offer a limited series of 100, exclusively for France. Charismatic, yes, but lacking the latest upgrades like a 6-speed gearbox. And the EX version 's spoked wheels would be welcome too.
from CB 1100 to BadSeeds, the Honda gains a tapered two-tone seat, new turn signals and mirrors, black paint on the rims, and a heavy dose of styling with aesthetic elements. The front fender is truncated, stripped of its chrome and lacquered with a matte black coating. This is the same cladding found on the headers. These bring the breath to the 4-in-1 Yoshimura muffler, as much racing as vintage. All the more to give voice and an ounce of character to a rather linear 4-wheeler. The engine is rated at 89 hp and 9.5 mkg.
Beneath its black-and-gray forkhead, embossed with the machine's full name and Yoshimura's Japanese logo, are lower handlebars, dictating a slightly sportier riding position. And with a pair of Öhlins shock absorbers with separate reservoirs, the café-racer effect is in full effect. But don't be too enthusiastic. With 248 kilos on the scales, and a chassis that's sound but not sporty, it's not the kind of bike you'd expect to get into a tizzy with burnt-out brake pads. Nevertheless, with its aforementioned accessories, perforated side covers bearing the BadSeeds logo, and black handlebars overlaid with a numbered plate, it's a real eye-catcher. And if you'd like to take your CB 1100 home in its original condition, all original parts will be delivered in a large cardboard box.
a machine of Japanese blood, it nevertheless bears a French coat of arms. The bike is modified by Boxer Design, not far from Toulouse.
Tempting, catching the wave of neo-retros that's lightly gaining momentum, the CB 1100 BadSeeds shares one suffocating fact with an already star of the segment, the BMW Nine-T: a calming price. At 15,590 euros, the budget lengthens the molar range somewhat. The latest models have benefited from a substantial discount.
