presentation of the CB 500 F 2016

there are many ways to discover motorcycling. Cross, circuit, road, collection... But it often starts with a poster on the wall or a few books lying around. Between bikes, 125s and MotoGP, the offers are endless, and when the right to ride a big cube finally arrives, dreams have to give way to reality. And it may not be as bitter as it seems. While the CB 500 may have led many motorcyclists in the direction of fun and utility, it is now looking for more fun. Within its engine, you can guess the reason, the work, the A2 license almost engraved in its entrails. All of this almost evaporates with the silhouette offered by 2016.

the CB 500: basic yet universally endearing in its early days, more placid in its 2004 redesign, mutinous in its 2013 revival, and bold in this new chapter. Almost radical in its styling. More streamlined, incisive, the machine threatens. With its CBR-like rump, scalpel-cut headlamp and lightened shoulders that give way to the engine, the CB 500 could almost be mistaken for a streetfighter. Front and rear lighting are LED. Enhancing, and almost deceptive. Because underneath it all, you'll find exactly the same mechanics and technology as the old version.
Diamond-type steel frame, 41 mm forks, 192 kilos, 320 mm front and 240 mm rear brake discs, ABS - that's it for the chassis. The engine is the same, with the same mission and the same technological package. For this twin, everything seems to be taken for granted right from the start: it proves to be easy to handle and suitable for all circumstances for young licence holders. 48 hp, or 35 kW, are there to take you from the city to the gym. As far as sensations are concerned, it's only fair. Let's not be too greedy: its level of enthusiasm is somewhere between the CBF 125 and the CB 650. Honda has nevertheless raised the bar a little with a few improvements. The gearbox selection system has been revised for greater smoothness. The exhaust is more compact, lighter (- 2 kg) and more attractive. The fork can now be adjusted for preload, while the brake lever also gains a setting, with 5 possibilities for spacing.

it looks like this CB 500 F wants to stay out longer. Autonomy is improved with 1 liter more fuel in the tank. At the other end of the scale, the seat height has dropped by 5 mm to 785 mm. And these little details, such as the bronze-colored engine parts, the acid colors and the petal brake discs, add to the bike's chic look. When you look at it, it's now harder to believe in its economic vocation. When you ride it, you'll find a daily companion, less enticing in its dynamic performance, but sufficient to satisfy the city dweller and the discoverer of medium-displacement bikes.

French charles Model 2018
very good bike. I did harden up the rear suspension a little, but otherwise nothing to complain about. I've been quietly running it in (1000 km). I'm now at around 2,500, but I'm still not pushing it beyond 7,000 rpm
Trip to AUVERGNE, in the spring, very pleasant (Corèze, Cantal, hte vienne).annual overhaul (oil change) scheduled for the end of october
Otherwise clear
VOILA
BONNE ROUTE A TOUS !!!!

French Kiki Model 2017
My wife has just bought the CB 500 F model 2017. Very nice design. Pleasant ride, easy to handle and good road holding. Smooth gear selector with no rattling. The only drawback is the location of the horn, which is not very aesthetic, and the access to the side stand (too close to the gear selector). Rating : 5/5
French Model 2016
I bought one in May 2016 Excellent bike, nice handling, light, peppy and very economical
Maybe the exhaust is a bit of a moped
Otherwise nothing to complain about. It's great for everyday riding in town as well as on freeways and mountains.
Rating : 5/5
