presentation of the CB 125 R 2019
You need a bad boy! The arrival of the uniquely styled CB 1000 R goes hand in hand with the creation of a new roadster family at Honda. The identity is strong, and comes in a wide range of displacements. Youngsters will be delighted to find the features, style and attitude of the big CB in the little streetfighter that is the CB 125 R.
Honda finally joins a band of youngsters with a certain surprise. The brand had accustomed us to something softer with its CBF 125 series. But now, the Yamaha MT-125, Aprilia Tuono 125, KTM 125 Duke and Suzuki GSX-S 125 are all up for grabs. It's starting to get crowded. And you have to come with the key elements: a face, technology and a real personality.
The face, it scratches its arrival. The CB 125 R will have no trouble getting noticed. It follows the brand's new trend, dubbed Neo Sport Café. Then there's its pedigree. At less than 130 kilos fully loaded, it's one of the lightest 125s on the market. A Katoche or a Yam carries 10 kilos more. As for the chassis, the little CB is determined to make its mark, with a 41 mm inverted fork and 4-piston radial brake caliper. Braking is bolstered by ABS, itself associated with an IMU inertial unit. Its job is to fine-tune braking distribution between front and rear.
On the other hand, there's nothing new on the engine front. Honda has updated the CBR 125 R's single-cylinder engine. With 13.3 hp at 10,000 rpm, it'll provide the necessary effort for everyday use, but won't offer the valour you'd expect from a machine with such aplomb. In any case, you don't buy a 125 to provoke rubber or drool. Still, reaching the legal maximum of 15 hp would have maintained a certain presumption. And when it comes to modernism, a single ACT and 2 valves don't look like much. This type of valve train can only be found on machines that claim to be vintage.
The exhaust has been cleverly hidden under the engine. The rear is visually unobstructed, which is better for mass centralization.
The Honda CB 125 R makes up for this with technological inlays that are sure to hit the mark. Digital instrumentation and a globular headlight enhanced by rows of LEDs. Frugal, the roadster claims to make do with just over 2 liters to cover 100 kilometers. With 10 liters in the belly, a full tank should take you beyond 480 km. The reality will be a little less. But the range will still be excellent.
Honda finally throws a tough little roadster into the 125 clan. The CBF lacked the necessary punch. The CB 125 R arrives with a posture that speaks volumes. The fight can go on, as each manufacturer has its own slingshot.

There's nothing to complain about except that it moves as fast as a snail Rating : 5/5 Respond to mitralleuse

It's all there: reasoning, argumentation, objectivity ... What can I say to that? Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
I've been riding 125s for over 13 years, and I have to say they're the best. No regrets. It may not be as fast at top speed as its Yam, Katoch and Suzu rivals, but its torque means that in town you can go at 30 mph even in 5th gear without the engine chattering. In fact, it's torquey in the first 5 gears, with 6th for flatness and fuel economy.
So if you're not sure, take a look and give it a try. The build quality is unmatched by the competition, and the seat is much more comfortable than the others.
So, in my opinion, go for it, and I'm not tied to the Honda brand. Rating : 5/5 Respond to CBWIL
Of course, the yam and ktm are more powerful, but on paper...not in use!
I've tried all 3 and I don't regret my choice, but it depends on your riding style: up to 80 kph, the honda is more powerful because it's very torquey, it picks up very low, and its 3rd gear works wonders, but it's clear that if you're a rev-counter addict, like going flat out at 120 on fast lanes and intermediates at over 10,000 rpm... it's not what you need!
So yes, I'm dreaming of a 300 with a bit more oomph, but then you'd need an A2 license... and that's another story. Rating : 5/5 Participate in the conversation
Perfect handling and great tires for beginners Rating : 5/5 Respond to Titi74
Trying it out with two people is a real treat, although we're not big with just the two of us, we're just over 110kg, and the bike's still very responsive.
In short, I really like it, so much so that I ordered it ;-) Rating : 4/5 Respond to Eric
You're right. A 500x is worth 1,500 euros more. You still need to have a driver's license.
