presentation of the TR 650 Terra 2013
the Husqvarna name immediately conjures up images of a motorcycle with character, a voracious appetite for trails, not exactly for the general public, and yet endearing. The Nuda 900 recently opened up new horizons for the manufacturer. And here's a TR 650 with great ambitions to broaden Husky's field of action. In fact, with this Terra model, sister to the Strada, the mono-type motorization finds a beautiful setting, a blend of sport, trail and comfort that's far more appealing than the TE 449 or 511. In short, a machine halfway between a Yam XTR and a KTM EXC (if I may say so myself).
with its sharp-edged outfit, the TR 650 Terra exudes authentic personality, and the simple graft of a duckbill is enough to distinguish it from its near-twin Strada. Would you believe that underneath its sharpened clothes, the base comes from a BMW G 650 GS? The frame is a simple tubular design, combined with a 46 mm upside-down fork, monoshock and spoked wheels for off-road riding. The suspension features 190 mm of travel, and with 21" and 17" wheels, you can hit the trails without batting an eyelid. All in all, far more comfort than a modern roadster.
will the 650 Terra set itself apart from its BMW cousin with its much sharper suit? Not only that. For although it borrows its mono, it's not going to install it as is. Thanks to some major modifications, it produces 10 more horsepower, or 58 horsepower @ 7250 rpm. That's a lot of horsepower with a lot of potential. Other improvements include modified electronic fuel injection, redesigned camshafts, more efficient intake and exhaust ducts, a new piston and a higher compression ratio.
The fun, aggressive profile of this TR is sure to appeal to young riders. For them, Husqvarna will offer a 48 hp limit, the same as for the European A2 license.
active braking safety has not been forgotten, but ABS is offered differently on the TR 650 Strada and the TR 650 Terra. The urban version has it as standard. The Terra trail version offers it as an option, and the fact of choosing it modifies the machine's caster angle: 63.5° on a Terra ABS, 63° on a standard Terra. Saddle heights are also different, with values of 865 and 875 mm respectively (the non-ABS version is higher). Tire specifications also differ - 90/90-21 MC54HTL (with ABS) or 90/90-21MC54 at the front, and 140/80 17 MC59H (with ABS) or 140/80 18 S MC70 at the rear.
nothing exceptional in terms of weight, the Terra peaking at 184 kilos with ABS and full tanks. But it's been a long time since trail bikes were the 130-kilogram machines that could get away with anything. With a G 650 as a base, you can't expect the slenderness of a Vertemati. In any case, you wouldn't expect to do any sport with it, but rather to enjoy the ride between the hazelnuts.

But after all these changes and the new cross-country and pure enduro range, will this TR 650 Terra still be available?
There must be quite a few in stock. Surely they won't destroy them or leave them to rot in a warehouse?
If they are still available, given the disagreement with BMW, will it be easy to find engine parts in a few years' time? Rating : 4/5 Respond to Bepro50
