presentation of the F 800 GS 2013

in recent years, the trail bike has been defined along three axes: city, like the F 700 GS; GT, like the R 1200 GS; and country, like the F 800 GS, of which this is the first evolution. Introduced in 2008, this 'green and asphalt' motorcycle was immediately acclaimed for its ability to cope with rocky terrain and give budding riders a real buzz. At a time when a certain Triumph 800 Tiger XC is tickling its spokes, the mid-size trail from Bavaria has been enriched by a few improvements and a serious dose of electronic assistance.

cautiously, BMW has made only minor alterations to the 800 GS. Just a breath of scalpel to refine the trail's shoulders. They're much more feline and elegant, as is the duckbill, which has frankly lost some of its thickness. Smoked indicator caps, new clutch and brake housings, redesigned dials, new BMW commodos, fuel level and engine temperature displays - these are the main cosmetic changes.

the engine has remained unchanged. This 798 cm3 parallel twin still delivers 85 horsepower with gusto. It does, however, benefit from a new option: the ability to be limited to 48 hp, for the new European license. Frame, chassis and brakes remain the same, with the exception of the inverted fork, whose diameter has been reduced from 45 to 43 mm.
That's not where the F 800 GS 'II' stands out; it's in safety and prevention.
It starts with a little delicacy in the seat. A lot of tall riders wanted a lower seat height. They can now ask Béhème to lower it by 60 mm.
Then it's up to the electronics to take over. The 800, like the 700, comes with ABS as standard. A dual-channel model, it can be disconnected when riding off-road.
For as long as the German brand has been testing a host of innovations, these are no longer reserved for the top of the range. This F 800 GS can now be fitted (as an option) with ASC traction control and ESA pilot-controlled suspension. This gives you two co-pilots of choice: the first regulates rear-wheel drive; the second adjusts the suspension according to the chosen mode (Comfort - Normal - Sport).

BMW F 800 GS 2013 - 1BMW F 800 GS 2013 - 1

with its second-generation F 800 GS, BMW has retained the essence of its trail bike, while adding the panoply of the electronic adventurer. Fully equipped, the bike promises to take care of almost everything, leaving you the choice of more or less rideable roads. The list of options has grown even longer, and will soon be longer than a political speech.

Très bonne moto
French Jey17 Model 2017
I bought this used bike with 42k kms. Initially A2, then recently unbridled. This is my 4th bike (if you count 2x125s and a Honda Rebel 500). Clearly, it's the most versatile, maneuverable and comfortable of all the bikes I've tried so far. I ride it just about everywhere: rough roads, white roads, etc. Everything goes. The only drawback is that you have to be careful in town, as it's high and quite heavy at very low speeds. Rating : 4/5

Hello
To share my experience
I bought this bike after renting one during a trip
I like to ride on small roads and tracks (rather dry forest roads ;-))sometimes mountain passes on national roads... on long outings
Sometimes in town, it gives the impression of riding a motocross bike in town
It's pretty good everywhere
Fairly precise cornering on rolling sections (not a sports bike, obviously, but very pleasant, reassuring, easy to handle...)
Comfortable on rougher, less rolling sections; having had roadsters before, the suspension of a trail bike is much appreciated on damaged roads (even slightly), and especially on speed bumps and other uneven surfaces.
I'm perfectly capable of rally-style riding on roads, even with stones and potholes... the suspensions take a beating (surprisingly enough, a pro should be able to go anywhere with this machine)
Or to ride quietly and admire the scenery, enjoy nature without too much impact, as the original pot is quite quiet (important for me ..and the people around me) and the engine quiet at low revs
Comfortable riding position, except for the original seat, which should be replaced by a comfort seat (mandatory for long trips)

The pluses
Maneuverable motorcycle, balanced in all areas, fairly powerful engine (for me), linear, torquey
The minuses
Seat height (I'm 1.73 m): a low seat is more reassuring
You can't deactivate the ABS on the rear only

Excellent motorcycle, very versatile and light, economical, I consume 4.6 l per 100 km and I don't have to drag myself, most often to cross the Alps with weapons and luggage, as well as Portugal and everywhere in France. This is my 3rd 800 GS and I haven't had any problems. I recommend it. Rating : 5/5

Hi, I own a green Kalamata,
i own one in Kalamata green, nothing to say, it's my bike that I've always dreamed of owning. I often use it in town for my errands and I've even done a 3000 km loop in the Algerian Sahara and the machine never asked to be ridden again, it's a war machine.

beautiful machine but and yes a but
85 hp , expensive option quality of the screws and bolts like all bmw they make savings on it so I put myself in search of a good compromise and I found triumph tiger 800 , 95 hp equal price but quality of screws and bolts then very strong the English really very strong so to see also the resale the quotation what to go to see at bmw as I often did to return a machine and to leave with another and you will be well disappointed with the price that one offers you

Voyage en duo en 800 GS
HELLO TO EVERYBODY.I have a question to ask, if someone could answer. In duo with suitcases for a trip, for example Corsica, how does this 800 new version. For the female passenger, in my case, would it not be too tired. Is it (the 800) not too tap cu.Because I think I'll buy it in the spring.I have already tried the 1200gs but I find it not enough maneuverable.I think it's a good bike,THANK YOU for answering me Rating : 3/5

I got a taste for speed and small roads with a 1000 multistrada, but I'd like to get back to my first love: trails.
That's why, just last Saturday, I went out to try out an 800 GS. I was really blown away by the ride, and with the "comfort" seat, it's a real pulman. I brought along my favorite passenger, who was delighted.
It has to be said that after a Ducati, you find everything comfortable :)))
On the other hand, with the comfort saddle, you have to be over 1m70 tall, otherwise you'll be pedaling in a vacuum.
Then there's the price, which rises steeply when you take all the options. That's what keeps me from ordering it, otherwise it's a great machine!

Already the owner of the 2012 Triple Black, I can't get enough of this bike! I'm an old biker who's had all kinds of machines, but the 800 is amazingly agile, full of character, and in the twisties it's truly demonic... i even preferred it to the much less playful 1200 GS... so the 2013 model with traction control and ESA... plus its even nicer look... well, I think I'll fall for it ;-) Lo84 Rating : 4/5

Hauteur de selle de la F800GS
French Model 2013
Hello Sir/Madam,
Can you tell me how much lower the saddle can be and what the minimum height is in this case? Is there another factory solution for lowering the saddle even further? It seems that a solution is going to be created for October or early January. Are you aware of this project? In fact, I'm interested in the 800GS but I'm 1.65cm tall. Thank you very much for keeping me informed
Best regards

Hello,
as specified in the motorcycle data sheet :
http://www.motoplanete.com/bmw/4294/F-800-GS-2013/contact.html

The seat height is adjustable from 880 to 850mm.
The other solution is to adjust the suspension to lower the bike, which unfortunately has the effect of hardening it.
