presentation of the 701 Supermoto 2016
With nearly 70 hp, advanced electronics and a cutting-edge chassis, the 145 kg 701 Supermoto delivers pure riding sensations on the track.
frame
the tubular trellis frame, renowned for its lightness, is made from a high-quality chrome-molybdenum-steel alloy. It has been designed to guarantee ultra-precise handling and inspire complete confidence in the rider. Precisely calculated torsional rigidity and longitudinal flexibility provide valuable feedback to the rider.
polyamide rear frame and tank
the self-supporting rear section, housing a 13-liter fuel tank, is ideally positioned to ensure ideal weight distribution. Weighing in at just 5.2 kilos, this one-piece component is made from ultra-high-strength polyamide using the rotomolding process (a manufacturing process for thermoplastic materials).
aluminium swingarm
the gravity die-casting process eliminates the need for welds, resulting in an ultra-precise, ultra-light one-piece swingarm (3.9 kilos).
wP suspension (front)
the inverted fork designed by WP Performance Systems, easier to adjust and more efficient than conventional forks, offers 215 mm of travel and features separate damping circuits in each fork tube: the left fork handles compression, while the right fork handles rebound.
wP suspension (rear)
The fully adjustable rear shock absorber (also by WP Performance Systems) lets you adjust rebound and compression settings at high and low speeds. The 250 mm rear wheel travel guarantees perfect control in all situations, whether on steep, winding roads or in the middle of town.
engine
the water-cooled, single-cylinder, single overhead camshaft engine benefits from the latest advances in design and electronics. With a phenomenal maximum power of 49 kW (67 hp) at 7,000 rpm and an equally impressive torque of 6.9 mkg at 6,500 rpm, this concentrate of technology has energy to spare.
cylinder head
the engine's particularly compact single overhead camshaft cylinder head houses 40 mm hollow-stem steel intake valves weighing just 48 g, and 34 mm exhaust valves weighing 46.5 g. Two spark plugs, each with independent ignition timing control, optimize combustion in the large-volume combustion chamber. The result is impeccable engine behavior and exceptional power delivery.
ride-by-wire technology
keihin's 46 mm-diameter electronic fuel injection system has no cables between throttle and throttle body. The throttle is electronically controlled by the Engine Management System (EMS). This constantly compares engine parameters with sensor data to adjust throttle opening accordingly and optimize throttle response.
the gearbox
the lightweight 6-speed gearbox is smooth and precise, offering unrivalled driving pleasure and comfort even in extreme situations.
wheels
gIANT hub wheels with black anodized rims are renowned for their lightness and strength. Continental ContiAttack Supermoto 120/70 and 160/60 x tires mounted on the front and rear of the 17" wheels ensure a smooth ride and exemplary handling, even on extreme inclines in corners.
engine mapping
the bike offers a choice of three riding modes, selectable via a switch under the seat. Depending on riding conditions and terrain, riders can opt for "Standard", "Smooth" or "Advanced" engine settings.
brakes
thanks to Brembo's radially-mounted 4-piston caliper and floating front disc, and the 1-piston caliper and floating front disc, brakes are easy to use.1-piston caliper and floating rear disc (320 mm and 240 mm diameter respectively), braking power and brake proportioning have never been so effective. Bosch's latest ABS system, configurable in Supermoto mode, adds to the feeling of confidence and safety.
anti-dribble clutch
the APTC (Adler Power Torque Control) anti-dribble clutch, produced by Adler, allows higher speeds on corner entry and exit by maximizing rear-wheel grip under hard acceleration. It also helps maintain rear-wheel stability by preventing the rear wheel from bouncing back on heavy braking phases before the chord point of a corner, ensuring optimum control and ideal glide in supermotard riding.
bodywork
the 701's bodywork is particularly innovative and ergonomic. It features an elongated seat (which extends over the radiator scoops) and ribs designed to optimize grip in all conditions. The fairing, which encloses the engine and frame, allows the rider to feel at one with the machine and maintain complete control of the bike in all situations.
cNC-machined fork crowns
these anodized fork crowns, with their unmistakable look, meet the performance needs of supermotard riders. Their flexibility has been calculated to provide maximum feedback to the rider on front-end behavior.
suitable for A2 license holders
Thanks to A2 engine mapping designed to limit power to 30 kW, A2 license holders can also benefit from the 701 SUPERMOTO's latest technological innovations and incredible agility.
magura hydraulic clutch
experience a smooth, progressive clutch.
