presentation of the Vitpilen 401 2017
aLERT: Object - Rolling - Unidentified. Its name is Vitpilen. Not a roadster, scrambler or anything else. Its creators refuse to affiliate it with an existing motorcycle category, so it's an encounter of the third kind. That said, with its bold, futuristic design, this meteor from nowhere is set to shake up the vintage and neo-retro trend. Like the " Husqvarna Nuda 900 " before it (a supermotard UFO), the Vitpilen has its own interpretation of form and space. It seems to come straight from another dimension, especially in its adopted segment, which cultivates anachronism and authenticity.
now, some might retort that, at just four hundred and small cm3, its galaxy of origin can't be far away... It's true that this displacement is a little disappointing, but the truth is: who cares? The market it's going to face makes it more of a show bike than a useful one. Customers of café-racers, neo-retro bikes and other pre-prep bikes prefer pleasure in the object, to pleasure in the sensation. So the 397 cm3 single-cylinder engine, with its 44 hp and 3.8 mkg of torque, will suffice.

as for the chassis and motorization, this time we know where it comes from: the little KTM DUKE 390. So the basics are well known: tubular trellis frame, 43 mm fork, single 4-piston brake caliper, virulent mono at high revs... a real little ball of nerves, full of good will. But, disguised as an extraterrestrial machine. Its outfit makes it a little heavier, weighing in at 148 kg dry, compared with the same weight but with full tanks for the Katoche. Call E.T. anyway, and tell him we've found something better than Elliott's bike basket for his return trip. Well, on the other hand, "home phone", he forgets. If the behavior seems to be assured, the electronic equipment is rather rudimentary. It only has ABS (Bosh 9.11). Once again, this will suffice... Expected late autumn 2017!
sorry to dash your ufology dreams, but we owe you a confession. We may have extrapolated a tiny bit about the Husqvarna's spatial origin. The name "Vitpilen" doesn't come from space, but directly from the past, since it was already used in 1955 for a road model in the range.

Bikers' reviews Leave a review - 2 reviews
As for the engine, well, 43hp is more than enough to have fun after the driving test! The engine is responsive, and the gearbox is short enough to get the most out of it. The shifter is exceptional, especially after I had it recalibrated at my dealer's for 25 euros, which made it PERFECT. The sound was already bad even though I'd bought the bike with a LeoVince silencer, but I did away with the pre-silencer and it's perfect with the chicane, a little detonation when you change gear with enough throttle on the shifter, and a little "pop pop pop" on deceleration. The equipment level is top-of-the-range, and we've already talked about the shifter, which is quite unusual on a 400, but that's far from being all: adjustable forks and shock! This means you can transform the bike from a good feel for the track to a soft globe. Adjustment is easy, with no tools required for the forks and just a flathead screwdriver for the rear. Adjustments are indicated under the seat to make things easier.
The suspension itself is of good quality, especially the fork with its large diameter. It's found on almost all the Hva/Ktm (high) range, and a normal 890 doesn't even have an adjustable fork, to tell you the truth... And it's not a fork to be neglected, having ridden the Alps with it, it was nice to have a fork that smoothed out the bumps on the passes and ensured good roadholding. There's also all the LED lighting, which is always a plus. In general, everything is well finished, with no cables too visible, such as those around the cockpit, or the beautiful spoked wheels... Only the dashboard is not very readable, not very usable and looks old-fashioned, but it keeps a round shape that's appreciable on a neo-retro bike, and then it's full of info, even a programmable shiftlight! Next, it's a fairly economical bike, with a small oblique displacement, only 11L of fuel tank, but up to 350 km of range. This bike is really made for small country roads, that's where you have the most fun! If you need it for freeway cruising, don't bother, as it's a small engine involving short gear ratios and therefore 7k rpm at 130... fuel and oil consumption are insane when you do that, and there's no protection against the wind, so it's very tiring. At 90, on the other hand, the effect of the wind is still bearable and the engine runs at a good rpm for cruising. Rating : 5/5 Respond to Un propriétaire de 401
the torque is great, the original pot on the other hand makes a scooter sound, but after opening the air filter the noise is completely new, quite muffled and round!!!!
the perfect bike to me!!! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Deeper Island
