Between its Limited and Elite models, Indian is quietly developing its top-of-the-range variants, tickling the historical competitor's CVOs from near and far. More equipment, more presence, more everything to offer a senatorial riding experience.
After a few years' absence, the Roadmaster Elite is back. As impressive as ever, and crafted with great care.

Its predecessor left us with the memory of its wide, retro Streamliner-style forkhead. Returning to the range, the Roadmaster takes on a new look, tauter and sleeker, but still with ample volume. From its face, prominent side panels, suitcases and plush top-case, this tourer commands respect and opulence.

On top of this, the paint treatment is simply superb. A deep, suave, esoteric color, a contemporary reinterpretation of 1904's "Indian Motorcycle Red". The triple-tone scheme of black and double-accented red with a Candy finish was created by Gunslinger Custom Paint (GCP) in Colorado and Custom Painted Vehicles (CPV) in Wisconsin. And it's a lot of work. It takes over 24 hours to hand-paint each bike, incorporating gold lines. The center console, too, recalls Indian's early days, with a representation of the Camelback, just above the number identifying the bike in its limited series.

Various exclusive emblems further distinguish this Indian. Next, it's the equipment that takes care of the luxury. The Roadmaster Elite aims to pamper its passengers with large, polished footboards, a heated and refreshing seat with embroidered Indian logo and abundant red stitching, a top-of-the-range Powerband sound system with big bass, 12 speakers and 50% more sound than the old system, passenger armrests, backlit gauges, a power-adjustable Flare windshield, a Pathfinder LED cornering light and new 10-spoke wheels.

All this is just extra fodder, as the Roadmaster is also equipped with keyless start, central control, cruise control, heated grips, tire pressure monitoring, Ride Command multimedia system with 7-inch color TFT screen, GPS, radio, Apple CarPlay, music and call management, USB and 12V ports, Bluetooth, rear suspension air adjustment and a motor....

The 1890 cm3 Thunderstroke is one heck of an engine, propelling the heavy Tourer with more than 17 mkg of torque. 171 Nm to be precise, produced by 10.32 cm wide, 11.13 cm long buckets. That's what it takes to pull the 403 kgs of this beast. On this Elite version, the engine has only its machined cooling fins as a metallic glint; everything else is covered in black, right down to the exhaust pipes. The twin is supervised by three riding modes (Tour - Standard - Sport) and cuts its rear cylinder during stops to avoid overheating.

Indian is planning 350 units of this Roadmaster Elite, the pinnacle of the Springfield catalog. With a vessel like this, you're sure to attract the sympathy of top fashion designers and their entourages.
