presentation of the 800 Bonnie 2021
Partnerships between motorcycle brands and companies from all sectors are frequent; for celebrations, showcasing, com' stunts, strategic alliances, show-offs... And there are more synthetic creations.
Such is the case with Ipone. We know it for its lubricants, but when it comes to motorcycle design, not much. As a result, the presentation of the 800 Bonnie may raise a few questions. For this is not a motorcycle designed from scratch by the brand. It's a preparation, based on a Ducati 800 Scrambler. The Électron Libre Motorcycles workshop worked on the Italian bike to create a mutinous, free and independent vision.
The Scrambler Black Edition has been transformed to offer a fresh, new-wave motorcycle. The 800 Bonnie is boldly styled, with polar white clashing with traditional Italian red. Don't be tempted to think that there's any 'cousinhood' with Triumph, although the name and nickname are ambiguously close.
On the mechanical side , the emphasis has been placed on a hand-made exhaust system from the Électron Libre Motorcycles workshops in France. A unique pipe that underlines the style of the Ipone 800. The wheels have been modified to emphasize the motorcycle's adventurous style, with spoked rims and wider Michelin adventure tires, underlined by a custom mudguard.
The Ipone 800 Bonnie is designed to be accessible. The A2 version is suitable for young riders who want to experience the freedom of two wheels. Lucie Le Brun, famous singer with the group LEJ, discovered this bike during a road-trip in the hinterland of Marseilles before her concert at Espace Julien.
This Bonnie is a mischievous nod to the fascinating story of Bonnie & Clyde, a couple mystified by cinema and popular culture. It presents itself as a refreshingly free artist's motorcycle.
the people behind it speak for themselves:
électron Libre Motorcycles - Cyril Depraz
"It was a first for me to work on a new, fuel-injected machine. What's more, an Italian twin-cylinder. The brief was simple: to make a lightweight machine that would suit a woman as well as a man, attractive and efficient. I think we've succeeded in our gamble by offering a resolutely trendy motorcycle."
Sébastien Billault - Ipone Communications Manager
" We built this project so that Ipone would shine throughout the motorcycle world. Offering the Ipone 800 Bonnie means asserting our brand identity through a tangible product. We wanted to break with codes by offering a cheeky, elegant and adventurous motorcycle."
