presentation of the Ninja 1000 ZX-10R 40ème Anniversaire 2024
The ZX-10R is 20 years old. But the Ninja name goes back much further. To that distant year 1984, when Kawasaki unleashed the GPZ 900 R. Not everyone may have the ref', but think of Tom Cruise's bike in the first Top Gun and you'll immediately see who that first Ninja was.
With this celebratory ZX-10R, Kawasaki honors the 40th anniversary of this lineage. But it's the colors of the 1989 ZXR 750 that are used to dress up the hypersport.
Just as well. The alternating blue, white and green is a real breath of fresh air. The reproduction is meticulous, right down to the green-painted rims. The forks are anodized gold, as on the ZXRs; the brand name is proudly displayed on the hoof; and like the sports bikes of the 80s - 90s - early 2000s, the eastern frame and swingarm are painted metal-silver.
While the ZX-10R won a string of World Superbike titles, the ZXR-7 took three consecutive World Endurance crowns. It was during this period that Kawasaki made its mark on competition, building a solid reputation and a myriad of die-hard fans. That's why the 40th Anniversary Ninja favors a design as emblematic as the era itself.
A "40 years Ninja" emblem takes pride of place on the tank. A design full of vintage charm that's sure to stir the emotions of an entire generation.
Technically, there's no change to this slightly aged but still very hardy hypersport with its 203 drums and its equipment: Brembo M50 brake calipers, Showa inverted forks with external compression chambers, large electronics, 4 riding modes, thick alu perimeter frame and discreetly worked aerodynamics.
We had "foreseen" this special series in mid-2021, when Kawasaki dressed up the WSBK ZX-10R Factory with the same deco. Now it's done: a beautiful 750 ZXR color scheme adds a touch of nostalgia to the standard ZX-10R - for an extra 350 francs. Its ancestor was also christened Stinger - the name of an American missile. Nothing could be further from the truth for this descendant, a veritable cannonball with multiple titles in its pocket.
