Although the entire (modern) Z lineage is inspired by the "Sugomi" philosophy, only two models have actually borne this name: the Z 1000 and Z 800, in 2016 in special series.
Some time later, that is, now, the Z 500 takes up this name, intimidating like a Japanese weapon.

Which is not the case - Sugomi is a state of mind, "a Japanese concept and refers to a powerful and intimidating aura or presence, which inspires both respect and fear". In short, something difficult for Westerners to grasp, and even more so for the Z 500, which is an entry-level motorcycle, thought for young licensees and not at all for the sanguine.

Two paragraphs later, the reader can finally discover what sets this Sugomi edition apart: a set of stickers to give it a little more allure. A semasiographic logo adorns the tank's indentations, while graphic stripes run across the top. The same stripes are also found on the front mudguard, shoe and fork head.

It's a bold move to shine the spotlight on Kawa's little roadster, with the preciousness of a limited edition underpinning it. Available in green and red, the original Z 500 SE colors, the Sugomi Edition will be offered in a limited edition of 400 - 200 in each color theme. In exchange for an additional 450 euros over the SE.

Slightly more aggressive visually, this customized series moves with a 45.4 hp twin-cylinder obtained at 9,000 rpm. Playful, not at all vicious, and able to do the job it's asked to do with a smile but no fuss(see the test here ->), the Z 500 is equipped with ABS, a 4.3-inch TFT screen with smartphone connectivity, an anti-dribble clutch, contained weight and a very accessible seat height.
