presentation of the 390 DUKE 2015
with the addition of this 390 Duke, KTM offers a surprisingly complete family, perfectly suited to the discovery of the roadster(125 Duke) through to the mean streetfighter(1290 Superduke R). Much chunkier than the 200 (available only on order), without overshadowing the sporty 690, the 390 draws on the clan's organ bank to build muscle and retain the distinctive identity of KTM's "bad boys".
125 or 390, the face is the same. Take off the stickers on the side scoops and it'll be impossible to tell them apart. The single-cylinder, on the other hand, doesn't train in the same weight room. Only 15 kilos heavier than the smallest Duke, this bike discharges no less than 44 horsepower. That's three times the power in a pocket-sized package. The special thing about this engine is that it delivers slightly fewer watts than the maximum allowed for the A2 license (35 kW - 47.5 bhp)... and yet, you'll still need a bridle. This katoche is too light, and regulations impose a power-to-weight ratio - 0.2 Kw per kg - in addition to the maximum power. As a result, the A2 version of the 390 Duke produces 41 hp.
as is often the case at Mattighofen, the name does not necessarily mean the exact displacement of the engine. The 4-valve, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected single cubes 373.2 cm3. Torque, at 3.6 mkg, and power are pretty high. A sporty temperament that fits in well with the machine's nervous plasticity.
Technically, the chassis is very similar to that of the 125 /200. Tubular steel frame, dimensions, wheelbase, equipment... one dresses up the other. However, the factory informs us that the frame has been reinforced to withstand the 44 Austrian bricks. ABS, though not as advanced as the 9ME on the Adventure, is standard, as are the 43 mm inverted fork, 4-piston radial front caliper and emerging-market finish - the little dukes are low-cost daughters.
well positioned in terms of power and price, the 390 Duke relies on its quirky styling and mono to make the difference. Ideal for those who feel overwhelmed by the virulent 690, the 390 won't be a "go-to" machine either. A sporty single-cylinder isn't flexible, and the chassis promises to be playful. In fact, this Duke is emboldened by a start of character, which is a lot more fun than an easy-going, obvious machine that wears thin by late spring.

Even if it's a bit peachy, it doesn't tire your arms as much as the 690 does when you send everything off.
As a young rider, this bike is a pure delight, thanks to its lightness.
I loved this bike, but after switching to the 690, I felt it lacked a bit of power.

I bought the 390 Duke and found my 250 TDR Yam, but without the power.
High-performance engine with no torque or smoothness. You have to keep the revs up!
Incredible roadholding, with hellish braking.
In Paris, I'm the king of cornering, and I'll drop anything that moves in traffic jams.
In my opinion, this is not a bike for young riders, but for experienced drivers.

And above all, it doesn't consume a thing if you ride it gently, 3.5 to the 100, if you push it to the limit, 5.5l - in short, nothing! Rating : 5/5 Respond to Dimi
from the 70s and 80s, to name but a few. Please leave a comment Rating : 3/5 Respond to soradel
as far as the engine is concerned, the solidity is there, no tightening:
on my S3 RD or H2 the PERFS and the CONSO are also in the RDV I'm 59 and still consider the bike as 1 toy on the other hand braking and chassis have logically well evolved to date
as for the KTM MARQUE sportive the:40cv 140kgs 140/150 chrono leave me dubious.....
