presentation of the Ninja 300 R 2015

to succeed the Ninja 250 R, Kawasaki didn't compromise. Changing a bulb here or a blinker cap there, just to talk about upgrades, is not what this little Kawa is all about. The reality is simpler: we're changing everything: a bigger engine, a completely reworked design, a brand-new dashboard, a revised chassis and increased performance. Make way for the Kawasaki Ninja 300 R.

what poise! From the outset, the Ninja 300 R shows that it's in a different league. With its sharp, dynamic design, sporty aluminum footpegs, side-mounted indicators, ZX-6 R look, ZX-10 R-style floating bubble, ZZR 1400-inspired fairing and wheel designs, this machine is emboldened by the aura of Kawa's big guns. It's a real eye-catcher. Up close and personal, the mininja (contraction of mini and ninja, lol) looks bigger than it is.

hard to believe there's a 300 living under there. More like 296 cm3, to be precise. With this extra ladle of displacement, the Kawa is well placed to take the lead in the class, and hold its own against its designated rival: the Honda CBR 300 R. But there's more danger on the way: a fearsome KTM RC 390 and an intrepid Yamaha R3.
But what about this engine? New twin or re-boring of the 250? Simply a lengthening of the piston stroke, which is always good for torque. Between the crankcases, it's all techno: dual throttle injection and controlled slip clutch; the kind of gear you'd normally see on a supersport bike. In the interests of comfort, the engine-makers have optimized vibration levels and heat dissipation. In fact, the fairing sides are designed for better heat evacuation.
With power on the cusp of 40 hp, you can start having fun with this 300. With your head in the bubble and your mirrors retracted, a young rider should be able to achieve a good top speed, probably enough to burn your license. But don't take any chances: you'll only go fast on the racetrack... The main benefit for everyday use is more torque and better acceleration.

forget the traditional, sad Renault 5-style needle-type instrument panel. We've replaced it with a sporty instrument cluster: sharp design, central analog rev counter and remote digital display. The digital display provides information on speed, time, fuel gauge, double trip and, as a bonus, an economy indicator.
But to take advantage of all this, it's out of the question to keep the structure of the late 250 unchanged. Instead, a new frame, a wider tire now 140 mm wide, and even worse, an ABS. Surprising, isn't it? And yet, the Ninja 300 R can indeed be fitted with anti-lock brakes.

this Kawasaki Ninja 300 R is a brilliant replacement for the 250, and offers some excellent arguments. A real conquest machine for emerging countries, where most manufacturers are honing their best-sellers in this displacement bracket. The echo won't be as strong in our country, which is more fond of displacements at least twice as large. But times are changing, and energy now eats up a big chunk of the wallet, so it's no coincidence that more and more models are occupying the 125 to 500 cm3 range. Mininja, it's your turn!

French Nocx Model 2014
I've had it for 3 years and it's a great bike.
It easily does 300km on a full tank and the maximum speed I've been able to achieve is 194 km/h, so it's a lot of fun!

Manque d'information
French Model 2015
Nice design. What first attracted me was the 300 lack of information on the dashboard.
- average fuel consumption (km/l or l/km)
- gear indicator
that's what's holding me back in my choice.

I've just done 600km with a Ninja 300 30th birthday (2015) Yeah, it's a very, very nice little bike. Handy, fast, with very decent power. There's plenty of fun to be had. Plus, it looks great. I highly recommend it to all those who, after the big bikes, would like a light, easy-to-ride machine with not much less power. What fun! Rating : 5/5
Idéale pour débuter
With no 2-wheeled experience, I bought this little green frog at the age of 43 (and yes, there's no age limit!)
I wanted a small-displacement motorcycle that was economical and easy to get started with. So, am I going to enjoy riding a motorcycle?
Well, after several hundred kilometers, I'm very satisfied. I was particularly taken with its lines.
Once you open the throttle and crank up the revs, this little machine accelerates very well indeed. Between 6 and 7 seconds to reach 100kms/h...with a two-cylinder noise, but good.
Almost identical in size to its big sister, the 636.
What's really funny are the biker buddies who stop in front of the machine, asking me every time "Is that a 600?
No, it's a 300.... Maybe the 600 will be next, who knows!

I tried it out this weekend, and it's the same as the 250, only better, with better-filtered vibrations (that's important) and better low-end power, but the engine will also need to improve to give it all it's got, though it'll still be faster than the 250. Comfort isn't much better, but ergonomics are just as good, if not better, thanks to the modern speedometer block. Suspension is not as bad as on the 2.5, but no less firm, and the seat needs to be redone (not too expensive), and a double-curvature bubble added. In terms of value for money, the 250, currently on special offer (from 4300 to 4500e), will be comparable, especially as you won't find as much engine braking on the 300, probably due to its in-house anti-dribble. Still great for fun, but also for daily commuting. What the people want! ah yes, a lower price, especially with the abs. Rating : 4/5

French Nico Model 2013
Nice bike, indeed. The 300 and even 400 displacements will surely be more popular than the 250s. It's a pity Mr Kawa didn't add a few more horsepower, while staying under the 50hp limit of the new license. By the way, does anyone remember a certain Aprilia RS 250? no? 70hp all the same, a good 200 top speed and 0 to 100 in 4.3... Rating : 4/5
French rene Model 2013
It's a nice bike, which makes the current 250 ninja even better, and for the same price. It's possible that this bike will hit the bull's-eye this time, despite the change in legislation in 2013. Give or take 8hp (35kw will be the next limit on the "A2" license), I'd rather have a very homogeneous bike and an engine capable of spitting out all its horsepower than a bike that's a little more powerful but not as exciting. So, all the best to this new production. I can't wait to try it out. Rating : 5/5
