presentation of the ZX-6 R 636 KRT édition 2016
destiny is a game, where pawns weave their way through fashions, arcana, passions and cruelties. The fate of the 600 supersports is dark these days. Manufacturers are in no hurry to renew them, or even to make them evolve. What's the point? The market is moribund. But these little moths don't want to disappear without a fight. And they still know how to please and incense the tracker. Those who like very high revs between vibrators or under the sky of long threads. Therein lies the fortune of the ZX-6R 636. It boasts some fine technical arguments and intends to take advantage of the Kawasaki Racing Team's aura to stand out even further. But its atypical displacement isn't enough. The Superbike team's coat-of-arms adds an extra layer of fun. A superbly sporty dress, where hints of green try to escape the menacing black.
it's not just an ornamental exercise; it's also part of the KRT replica family. Three dimensions of sport at Kawa, in the colors of WSBK: discovery with the Ninja 300 R, touring hysteria and lightness with this 636, hypersport fury with the ZX-10R.
The unabashedly high-tech ZX-636R has not finished stirring the needles. More trunk space, more availability, and smoother power for greater on-road pleasure. Since the previous 600, the impetuous 4-cylinder engine has gained 37 cm3 by increasing piston stroke. With this extra blast volume, the ZX-6R offers more low- and mid-range torque, better acceleration, and a more exploitable engine character - a plus for road use of the machine.

in terms of driver assistance, the ZX-6R had made a quantum leap. While it didn't borrow the 10R's plastic, it did not hesitate to steal much of its electronics. With this opus of the 600 sports bike, you'll be able to open up in all directions and brake like a pig. Feel like welding the handlebars? The 3-mode KTRC traction control system, combined with a choice of 2 mappings, takes care of traction and slippage. Braking hard as you approach? KIBS anti-lock braking assist you. This "intelligence by Kawa" ABS helps prevent rear wheel lift during hard braking, and takes into account the effect of counter-torque during downshifts.
it's "wiser" on the chassis side. By which we mean that it hasn't undergone any significant overhaul. The aluminum perimeter frame and large-section swingarm have been carried over from the previous version. Precise equipment that's hard to fault. Only the fork has changed: the latest generation from Showa, combining SFF (damping on one fork, hydraulic on the other) and BPF (Big Piston) technologies.
The 636 Ninja is now a classic, but still very much appreciated, and is equipped with high-quality sporty peripherals: fCC anti-dribble clutch, 4-piston radial brake calipers gripping petal discs, complete and compact instrument panel (it doesn't change, except for the removal of the green or red coloring of the engine operating ranges), dual-throttle injection and a boiler that loves revs.
with this 636 ZX-6R, Kawasaki is clearly aiming for greater everyday enjoyment than the competition. But with its displacement barring it from competition (600cc max for the Supersport class), how will the Akashi-based manufacturer compete on the racetrack?
