presentation of the 250 SX 2012
massive horsepower: the absolute power of the quarter-liter two-stroke engine makes the 250 SX a precision instrument with an unbeatable power-to-weight ratio. The new progressive suspension and all-new frame raise the bar even higher in the 250cc segment. It's never been easier to reach the MX1 podium with a two-stroke.
new intake manifold
The 250 SX's flow-optimized intake flange, between the airbox and carburetor, now ensures even better engine breathing. As a result, the water-cooled two-stroke revs even better, delivering more power throughout the rev range.
adjustable exhaust control and ignition curve
A choice of two ignition curves per connector and adjustable TVC exhaust control allow 250 SX riders to tailor the character of the two-stroke engine to their personal needs.
engine power and weight
The relatively simple technology of the two-stroke engine offers undeniable advantages, not least its high power per liter and low weight. That's why the 250 SX is virtually unbeatable in terms of its power-to-weight ratio. Unbeatable performance and extraordinary handling are the hallmarks of its character.
new frame
The 250 SX's completely redesigned frame, made of high-quality chromium-molybdenum steel, is not only extremely light and torsion-resistant. It also boasts a particularly well-balanced geometry, combining childlike manoeuvrability with formidable precision.
new Linkage rear suspension.
From now on, even the two-stroke bikes in KTM's MX range are equipped with the complex linkage rear suspension. Linkage of the shock absorber via a connecting rod system provides great progressiveness and a wide range of adjustment. As a result, the 250 SX is a regular on the podium, even on the most brutal motocross tracks.
new swingarm
The new Linkage rear suspension is combined with a new cast-aluminium swingarm, designed for optimum resistance to lateral torsion and perfectly defined longitudinal flexibility. The 250 SX owes much of its line stability, extraordinary handling and extreme traction to this new swingarm.
new telescopic fork setting
The inverted telescopic fork has been further improved, featuring closed cartridge technology and a slightly firmer setting for even less bottoming. The WP fork, with its 48 mm (1.89 in) tubes, is a major contributor to the 250 SX's extraordinary handling.
bodywork
The 250 SX's bodywork, with its slim seat and spoiler lines and excellent contact points, further perfects its ergonomics, making it even easier and more precise to ride.
