presentation of the KX 250 F 2012
the intrinsic qualities of the KX 250 F provide circuit-savvy riders with an excellent base from which to climb the podium. The design of the extremely rigid aluminum frame, and the suspension components and settings designed to guarantee stability, are preserved at high speeds, particularly in a straight line, allowing experienced race drivers to open up the throttle wide. In order to achieve the holeshot - a key factor that can make all the difference between taking the lead and winning, or remaining locked in the pack -the geometry of the chassis and the 4-stroke's highly exploitable power range have been calculated to optimize rear-wheel driveability.
heir to a line of battlers and a serious contender fortending towards the podium in the hands of any experienced rider, the 2012 KX 250 F sharpens its weapons even further with the addition of dual fuel injection - a world first on a cross-country machine. Thanks to the new fuel supply, the power of this highly acclaimed engine is taken to the next level
and clearly sets the KX 250 F apart from its rivals.
a powerful, exhilarating, factory-prepared dual-injection engine
specially tuned for touring enthusiasts, the 4?stroke, liquid-cooled 249 cm3 single-cylinder engine offers a wide powerband that favours performance at high revs, and delivers plenty of power when over-revving. While its racing-style tuning and components - such as the piston with internal bridge cap - ensure high efficiency and power, the 2012 KX 250 F takes engine performance up a notch with a world first: dual fuel injection. Riders of all levels will notice the power gain, but the machine retains all the flexibility of the 2011 engine. What's more, selection is now smoother and the engine is even more reliable.
kX FI "factory" fuel injection calibration kit (optional)
the KX FI fuel injection calibration kit is identical to that used by official Kawasaki Teams in Europe and the USA. It allows experienced riders to adjust engine settings to their preferences (by modifying the original mapping), but also to record riding data and then analyze it to fine-tune the settings even further.
a high-speed chassis with factory parts and preparation
The KX 250 F's aluminum perimeter frame is a narrow, lightweight structure made from forged, extruded and cast parts. The balancing and adjustments of the chassis have been designed for experienced riders. The position of the center of gravity and the main dimensions (swingarm axle, gearbox output pinion and rear wheel axle) have been chosen so that the rear tire propels the machine, rather than compressing the rear axle under acceleration. Highly appreciated for its high-speed stability, the chassis features a Separated Function front Fork (SFF), much less prone to friction, which enhances riding comfort and suspension performance. Shock absorption and damping functions are separated as follows:
> Left fork tube: shock-absorbing element
> Right fork tube: spring
This configuration ensures both smooth operation and firm damping - a combination difficult to achieve with conventional forks. The adjustments made to the 2012 model optimize rear wheel grip, fork resistance at the rebound stop and give the impression of a firmer rear suspension.
