presentation of the T 1002 VX 2025
A big trail bike, with a V-twin in the gut, 997 cm3 displacement, a 19-inch front wheel... Looks like there's an old 1000 V-Strom lying around.
Unless...... It's a newcomer to the category. The name should enlighten us: Morbidelli T 1002 VX. It smells of Italy, combined with more distant production.
The brand has had a glorious past and a shady end. Fallen into the Keeway portfolio, Morbidelli re-entered the market with Chinese capital and machines. The trail here shows a willingness to conquer that we must be wary of. It's a large engine, proving that Asia's biggest country is aiming for bigger and bigger machines.
This twin-cylinder started out as a powerplant for a big cruiser, the C 1002 V. Now it's in a machine with even greater potential for success. The Gaokin Hawk 1000 ... sorry, the T 1002 VX is a nice-sized trail-GT, with a face reminiscent of Suzuki productions. The design doesn't stand out for originality, but seriousness seems to have guided both the line and the realization.
While a certain similarity with the V-Schtroumpf is evoked in terms of form, the background is far from it. The motor is not a copy of the TLS, TLR and DL. Open at 80° and fitted with a single ACT per cylinder head, its dimensions are less super-square than those of the Japanese boiler. It is also much less powerful. With 87 hp at 7,500 rpm, the fury won't be in the right hand. Torque isn't very eloquent either, but 9.1 mkg in the bag is enough to lift the body without too much effort. It will take some effort, though, as the Morbidelli trail bike weighs in at 265 kg dry.
Engine-wise, the T 1002 VX plays it down. Its chassis is more interesting, with adjustable Kayaba suspension, spoked wheels shod with off-road tires, J.Juan brakes with 4-piston radial calipers at the front, large 320 mm petal discs, and a double-beam perimeter aluminum frame. The swingarm uses the same material.

Most impressive of all is the price tag for all this equipment. In Italy, the T 1002 VX commands 9,990 euros. Read it again.......... There's no shortage of figures. This over-equipped trail-tourer is under ten thousand francs. Simply unbeatable. So yes, you won't get a thunderbolt, but you'll get a loaded mule to cross the country.
