Kayaba Industry, also known as KYB Corporation, is a Japanese equipment manufacturer specializing in the design and manufacture of shock absorbers, air suspension systems, power steering systems and hydraulic pumps. Founded in 1919, the company is based in Tokyo, Japan.
In the 1950s, KYB became a key supplier to the automotive and motorcycle industries. Its suspensions are fitted on models from major Japanese manufacturers such as Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki, as well as several international brands. Its large-scale production capacity, combined with advanced technical expertise, enables it to meet growing worldwide demand.
During the 1980-90 decade, KYB distinguished itself in competition, particularly in motocross and road racing. The company innovated with cutting-edge technologies such as inverted forks and adaptive damping systems, acclaimed by professional riders and production motorcycle users alike.
Today, KYB is one of the world's leading manufacturers of suspension and shock absorbers, with production spread over several continents. More than a million shock absorbers are produced every week in its factories, notably in Gifu, Japan, recognized as the world's largest shock absorber manufacturing facility. In Europe, KYB has three plants, a dedicated spring production unit and European headquarters in Krefeld, Germany. With a network of 10 subsidiaries and over 4.5 million products stocked (2024) and distributed each year, KYB guarantees international quality products and first-rate customer service, tailored to both professional and private customers.
Above all, thanks to constant innovations such as semi-active electronic shock absorbers and adaptive damping systems, KYB continues to consolidate its position as world leader, providing high-performance, reliable solutions for automobiles, motorcycles, ATVs and other specialized vehicles.
