presentation of the Rebello 1200 Giubileo 2012
morini is back, and celebrating its 75th anniversary with this Rebello 1200 Giubileo. It marks the revival of Morini, whose production ceased in 2010. To create a buzz, this roadster is being offered for sale in a rather unusual way for 2012: not only in a limited series (600 examples for this year), but also via an auction system, capped at 13,900 euros - full details in the news item announcing this Rebello.
Crouched on its shoulders, the Rebello seems to have been built around its engine. Its rather massive styling is unusual for an Italian, and reminiscent of certain Buell models. Everyone will appreciate, but the Morini was not designed for finesse, but rather for character. It clearly wants to stand out, and plays to its strengths.
First, there's the engine. It's a vigorous Italian twin from the late Corsaro, Granpasso, Sport and Scrambler. It knew how to express itself forcefully on these machines, becoming downright ferocious on the Corsaro, and even more so on the Veloce. His fieriness has been reduced to 130 hp on the Rebello, but his 12 mkg are still there to lift your heart. And Morini announces that his new roadster remains in the same vein: very mean.
Small and unobtrusive, the trellis frame holds the booming twin-cylinder and some really interesting equipment. The Marzocchi fork is huge, 50 mm in diameter, the shock absorber comes from Öhlins, and braking is top-notch: 18 mm radial master cylinder, 4-piston monobloc radial calipers, 320 mm discs, and all Brembo.
Sporty? Definitely. And also considerate for the passenger. The Giubileo is equipped as standard with a motorized seat backrest, which electrically slides to reveal the passenger seat. It features a few carbon parts, a stylish exhaust, and a singular 'FIRE' button to switch the engine on and off.
All owners of this machine will also receive two superb custom Rebello 1200 Giubileo helmets. If you couldn't get your hands on one of the 600 models up for auction, you'll have to wait until 2014 for a new series.
