presentation of the STELVIO 1200 NTX 2009

the passion for the Dakar, the desire for steppes and adventurous motorcycles had gradually faded by the 90s. The range evolved towards 2 radically opposed paths: big road trails, and more fun machines, such as supermotards. But for some time now, we've been witnessing the return of the Indiana Jones version of sharp motorcycles - imposing, powerful adventurers with dreams of sand and rock. Moto-Guzzi has also entered this niche, preparing its Stelvio trail bike for adventure. We presented it in November 2008 under the name TT, but Guzzi has decided to call it NTX - a reference to the 750 NTX, the big "African" trail bike that Guzzi marketed in the second half of the 1980s.

behind these 3 letters, you'll find a Stelvio in a Bob Morane outfit; the color scheme is unmistakable.the 1200 NTX is equipped with protective bars on the cylinders and (a little refinement) on the end of the swingarm. Spoke wheels are fitted with mixed-use tires, and the rear wheel is thinner than on the standard Stelvio (down to 150 in diameter) for better maneuverability in rocky terrain. Hand protectors, small additional headlights and an aluminum sabot already encourage you to discover the machine's possibilities. Of course, Guzzi didn't forget to include some big Touratech-style panniers, with a very Germanic profile, but reinforcing the solidity aspect. Underneath these attributes, the 1200 Stelvio NTX more than clearly displays its target: the BMW R 1200 GS Adventure. The 2 machines are in exactly the same class - BMW's long experience means the match could be a foregone conclusion. But the remarkable performance of the standard Stelvio and the charm of Mandello's Moto-Guzzi STELVIO 1200 NTX 2009twin are no match for the Bavarian rigor. Guzzi has introduced its most advanced version of its famous twin-cylinder: the latest 1151 cc with 4-valve cylinder heads, rated at 105 hp, and its famous inimitable temperament.

aBS will also be available as an option. An asset for a machine that will spend a lot of time on the road. Opposite it, the range may seem wide(Varadero, Tre-K, GranPasso, Tiger, etc.), but these models are more suited to the road and sport. On the real dirt roads it promises to take us on, the Stelvio NTX will have to fight off the benchmark R 1200 GS Adventure, as well as the very expression of the Dakar, the KTM 990 Adventure. At a crossroads, it could even have crossed swords with a certain Aprilia Caponord Rally Raid.

but the Guzzi doesn't give up so easily. The Stelvio NTX is not a small machine, and handling its 260 kg in rocky terrain will not be as easy as with an enduro.

French Model 2009
I've had the NTX for three days now, and it's already been through 600km of twists and turns. This bike doesn't roll, it dances! Slight vibrations on the handlebars are a bit annoying, but for the rest, hats off to you! Rating : 5/5
French Model 2009
I own a "normal" Stelvio with a hell of an engine, the NTX with ABS and a 150 rear tire will be the bike to try and keep up with in the passes!!!! Rating : 5/5
