presentation of the 850 GRISO 2007

850 cm3 - A displacement steeped in history that has become a Moto-Guzzi legend, taking us back to the glory days of the Calif and Le Mans bikes of the 70s. Today, this displacement returns to equip the Griso (as well as a new version of the Breva). Is it the old 844 cm3 that's back, modernized? Or the small, re-cubed 750 from the Nevada? No, it's the big 1100, which loses displacement (by reducing the stroke) to boast dimensions of 92 x 66, much squarer values than the 83 x 78 of the belle époque twin mentioned at the beginning.

Moto-Guzzi 850 GRISO 2007 - 1Moto-Guzzi 850 GRISO 2007 - 1

This 877 cm3 develops a very respectable 76 horsepower...to power a motorcycle almost identical to the 1100, since the differences between the 2 machines can be counted on the fingers of one hand. With economy and standardization in mind, the Mandello-based firm has kept everything from the big Griso, and we're not going to complain. The only changes are the removal of the side-mounted oil cooler, the black-painted frame tubes and the grey-painted transmission.
The announced price makes the Griso a little more affordable. At less than €11,500, it's obviously more affordable than the 1100, but it's still expensive for an 850. On the other hand, its looks and presence are assets of choice.

French Capitaine Flame Model 2006
I've had my GRISO 850 for 2 years now, and it's a superb, super bike. It's a pleasure-maker. You're depressed, so ride this machine and life's pleasures will come rushing back
Don't listen to the detestable testers, try it without preconceived ideas and you'll be amazed by its character and torque. This is a bike to live with

i've had no problems whatsoever, covering over 20,000 km in 2 years.

French Eric Model 2006
I think this machine is superb, just like the 1100

I'm not saying anything about the price - is it official? It would be astonishing, even suicidal for Guzzi, if it were as close as that of the 1100, or that of the Monster S4R (in view of Yef's opinion), even if the Ducat isn't really in the same league

On the other hand, if the data sheet is correct, I'm surprised that the maximum torque is obtained so high, at 1000 rpm of maximum power. I hope its average level starts lower..

I also don't understand why Guzzi's French website doesn't mention this machine or the 850 Bréva?

Rating : 5/5
The displacement is interesting, but the price is much less so, as it's too expensive compared to a monster 850. Now this engine is good news for those who like the LEMANS or the V11 SPORT, which could be offered in cheaper, lighter and hopefully more reliable versions. Rating : 5/5
