basing much of its appeal on its gleaming silhouette, the V7 Racer tweaks its looks for 2014. You have to get up close to see the differences: the number 7 is now chromed, a red Moto-Guzzi sticker has been applied to the rims (as on the 1400 Calif Custom), the red edging around the number plates has number plates has disappeared, and black has swallowed up certain chrome parts (mirrors, muffler mounting plates, airbox cover). The single-seater seat is finished in alcantara and imitation leather in the same color as the leather strap running across the fuel tank.
like all models powered by the 744 cm2 block, the V7 Racer recently benefited from a major upgrade to its twin-cylinder engine. No less than 70% of the parts are new, both inside and out. The edges of the cylinder head fins have been softened, and a new, classier cylinder head cover has been added. The spark plug has been hidden and the volumetric ratio increased to 10.2:1. In the cylinders, much has been reworked: new combustion chambers, new pistons and rings, and a modified intake. Induction is now via a single 38 mm throttle body. The gas flow passes through a Y-shaped section to feed the two bowls. At the outlet, there is a lambda sensor for each cylinder. In addition to improved fuel consumption, this revised block boasts enhanced performance, with 48 hp and over 6 mkg of torque. The gearbox, too, promises improved driveability. A more compact alternator takes its place in 2014.
derived from the V7 Café and Classic, this V7 Racer emphasizes customization and a certain exuberance. And the least we can say is that this café racer exercise stands out from near and far. It had already done so when it was only a concept bike presented at EICMA 2009. So enticing, so dapper, that Guzzi barely touched it up before bringing it to series production, much to the delight of lovers of beautiful machines. Because, let's face it, this machine looks good. A very nice customization job, halfway between café-racer and tuning. The line is never crossed, and remains in the taste of an Italian creation.
with its red frame and chrome tank, the V7 Racer immediately arouses curiosity and catches the eye of passers-by. The manufacturer has put a great deal of effort into making this bike almost delicate to detail, as much as shimmering in its rendering. For those who set eyes on this machine, there are winks everywhere: spoked rims, red-painted hubs and swingarm, leather belts on the tank, number plates on the mini windscreen and on the sides of the rear saddle, controls on the front and rear seats, and more.s of the rear saddle, solid-cut aluminum pedal controls, half-handlebars around an enriched top-tee and fork gussets... Clearly, it's a real eye-catcher! Having served this appetizing appetizer, does the V7 Racer outdo itself with the main course and the motorization? Not really, and we'd be almost disappointed to have only the 750 to sink our teeth into. The Guzzi character will be there, but the twin's 48 hp will bring only moderate flavor to this vintage roadster. Despite the mechanical improvements made for 2012, it frankly deserves a beefier block, like the 940 installed on the Bellagio. Granted, the V7 Racer is primarily designed for parading rather than riding. But with a name like that and bracelets in your paws, you'll want to step on the gas as soon as things start turning.
