presentation of the 750 V7 II Stone 2016
The Guzzi V7 is one of those machines that's as fresh as it is discreet; so few of them are ever seen. Yet its charm is there, with its slender, vintage, crisp silhouette, its cylinders with the brand's unmistakable positioning, its village girl face... You'd almost think she'd only come out for the holidays, and that technology hadn't spent much time on her.
big mistake. After some serious upgrades in 2012, the little Italian is back at it again in 2015. To the point of becoming V7 II, as if to clearly mark a break with the previous generation. It's subtle to see, almost impossible even, and for good reason: it's mainly in the mechanics that it happens.
Inside, the twin remains. But its positioning has been revised. It moves forward 10 mm in the frame, then tilts 4°. A technical choice designed to improve cornering behaviour and, as a little bonus, free up a little space between the cylinder heads and the knees.
A little more dynamism in the chassis, a lot more in the transmission. And it's a turning point in the history of this engine block. A 6-speed gearbox is now available. Guzzi has taken the opportunity to revise the first and fifth gears to smooth out the revs between each ratio. And add a little smoothness. In addition to an overhauled primary transmission and improved clutch, the internal work promises greater smoothness and efficiency in gearbox operation. Perfect; it's about time the left boot got a modern, pleasant selection.
choosing a Guzzi also means choosing a story, an engine, a character. Choosing the V7 means accepting a heart that's not very powerful, but endearing and pulsating like no other. Its twin-cylinder engine produces 47 horsepower and a maximum torque of just over 6 mkg. Enough for a leisurely ride, without looking for a thrill or an exhilarating ride. And yet, Guzzi has given its V7 II traction control. Yes, yes, for real. Called MGCT, the bugger won't have much work to do, given this roadster's watts. But.... You never know. A slip-up can always happen when the weather's lousy. The ABS is there to complete the safety.
Anything else on board? Yes, let's not forget the new alternator and the 50 mm lower swingarm mounting. That's to improve suspension performance.

The V7 II is all about the little extras on the engine and technical side. This momentum extends to passenger comfort. You may not have seen it, but you'll notice the improved driving position. Since the previous V7, the seat has been lowered to 790 mm (-15 mm), and the footrests by 25 mm. You'll feel more at ease, especially as this bike is easy to handle. The bike's low weight also makes it easy to ride. However, weighing in at 189 kilos, the V7 II has put on a good 10 kilos.
Let's not leave this chapter without recalling that this little bike brakes with a large 320 mm disc clamped by a 4-piston Brembo caliper. The chassis is classic, with a double-cradle steel frame, a 40 mm fork, a pair of shock absorbers and a shaft final drive.
let's take a step back. For some time now, the V7 has been stepping up a gear in its development. And today, it's a roadster that's not exactly cheap given its performance, but it's also a retro machine equipped with a universal joint, ABS and traction control. And it's the least expensive in the segment. Style and character easily compensate for the engine's measured enthusiasm. The Guzzi V7 II Stone has the backroads of Italy in its cylinders, but it's more likely to be bought on a whim. A host of accessories and a copious lifestyle section accompany this new generation V7.
