presentation of the 800 Brutale RR 2025

The RR is the 800 Brutale R, but with a few improvements. The silhouette is virtually the same, appealing to one and all. The finish, however, is a step above. On the other side of the Alps, we know how to charm, sometimes with small or subtle attentions. Thus, the roadster adds a more expressive exterior, an engine cowling, special forged rims, sportier tires and a healthy dose of adrenalin from the 3-cylinder engine.

2023 updates the electronic assistants, improves braking, installs a dual-density foam seat and applies DLC coating to the fork tubes.
The Brutale likes to improve in small increments, without overturning the whole picture. So, before, quietly, the 2021 evos didn't make it a new machine, but improved certain points. Not where the MV was lacking, but in areas where it stands out. It quickly shows its taste for technology with the full-colour TFT dashboard. The entire range is featured, from F3s to Dragsters and Brutales. The 5.5-inch screen houses all on-board information and electronics, as well as smartphone pairing via Bluetooth, the MV Ride in-house app and a GPS tracker navigation system.

The RR takes on everything the standard model has to offer: 6-axis IMU inertial unit, improved riding aids, new ABS from Continental with Cornering function, 3rd-generation shifter, cruise control, cornering lights, new DRL signature, stiffened chassis plates, new suspension settings, more comfortable seat and engine optimizations.

A new crankshaft (still counter-rotating), special treatment for valves, pistons and camshafts, a reinforced clutch and a revised exhaust down to the chiselled flutes are common modifications with the entry-level Brutale. Except that the RR definition changes the register, with watts worthy of a larger displacement. This optimized three-cylinder engine produces 140 hp at 12,300 rpm. A fine job on the part of the engine-makers, who have given nothing away in terms of power or torque. Torque peaks at 8.87 mkg at 10,250 rpm. Since the 800 Ro, this represents a gain of 28 hp and 2 Nm. However, this force requires much more revs to deliver its full potential.

MV-Agusta 800 Brutale RR 2021
at 175 kilos dry weight, the machine remains appreciably light. We'll put some of our confidence in the Brutale's assistants - a ride-by-wire throttle (revised for 2023 with improved feel and negative rotation to deactivate cruise control), 8-step traction control, up&down shifter, latest-generation ABS with rollover protection, Launch Control and several injection maps.

When it comes to big wheels, you need an ad-hoc chassis. At MV, we know what we're doing. No problem for the Brutale's efficiency, with the famous aluminum plate-axle / tubular steel trellis frame, 43 mm Marzocchi inverted forks and Sachs fully adjustable shock absorbers, and Brembo brakes with 320 mm discs and 4-piston radial calipers at the front - 220 mm discs and 2-piston calipers at the rear. The 2023 model updates the jaws, installing M4.32s.

No revolution for the 800 Brutale RR, but a welcome update to spice up your outings on one of the finest mid-size roadsters in production. It's a machine with a mouthful of attitude, great seductive potential, and enough guts to take you to the limits of reason. To go beyond them, you need a large dose of technique and composure. The Brutale doesn't bear its name for nothing. And the virtues of intoxication have to be earned.

Super bike, one flaw: the seat is very, very hard on the buttocks - must have the seat rebuilt Rating : 4/5
French Eric Model 2017
Superb bike, it's a shame it's 1500 euros more expensive than the 2015 model, because power and performance are the same, according to the manuals. Rating : 5/5
