presentation of the 800 Turismo Veloce 2015
elegance? No, demanding. The insatiable need to offer a design that oscillates between the sublime and the tempting. Like every MV-Agusta, the Turismo Veloce 800 responds to this desire... And to the expansion of the manufacturer's range. The trail bike is the area to be conquered at the moment - Varese has entered this segment with its own philosophy.
slender, taut curves, an eye for beauty, the effects of sportiness transpiring from the arteries, a contained size and palpable tension, the Turismo Veloce is indeed an MV. A racy, graceful blend that provokes curiosity after congratulations. An F3-inspired snout sets the first note of a score between sport and touring. Note the superb design of the rear, with a passenger seat that appears to be half-suspension. Fall in love with the sloping chevrons delineating the slender taillights. The Turismo Veloce may be a trail bike, but it's also the most desirable. The dashboard alone makes you want to spend hours on the handlebars. A 5-inch TFT color display, magnificent, ultra-complete, surpassing anything currently available.
The exhaust pipes are modelled on those of the 3-cylinder F3, Brutale and Rivale. Logical, since the machine is also powered by the Tre Pistoni. However, the final shape is squarer, as inspired by the F4. The attention to detail and the desire to offer an exceptional fragrance continue with red stitching on the seat, a single-arm, LED indicators inlaid in the hand guards, the finely illuminated polygon encircling the headlamp, and moments of MV-Agusta engraving here and there... Temptation is everywhere.
the norm in the trail-GT segment is a big twin, preferably 1200 cc. Instead, MV has opted for a boiling-hot powertrain already christened in its sporty F3, its mid-size Brutale roadster and the audacious Rivale. Thus, the super-compact 3-cylinder engine is installed in the Turisme Veloce, in its 800 size. Fiery and furious, the 3-legged engine is calibrated to produce 110 hp max at 10,000 rpm. Torque-wise, it's a tad more generous than the roadster, with an optimum of 8.6 mkg (+ 0.35) perched at 8,000 rpm. It smells of a nervous trail, more tempted to excite your back than the purr of a GT.
fans of technology will appreciate its advanced electronics, as the 800 Turismo Veloce houses the MVICS 2.0 platform. Behind this code name lies a host of driving aids. Three driving modes (Touring, Sport, Rain) + a customizable one - the parameterization possibilities are worthy of a Gran Turismo game. Throttle sensitivity, traction control, torque curve, power, engine braking and mill liveliness can be set to a defined number of levels. The bike is also equipped with an anti-wheeling system, cruise control and the second-generation EAS shifter. This allows you to shift up and down without touching the clutch. Shall we conclude this silicon chapter with standard ABS and on-board Bluetooth? Yes, unless you opt for the Lusso version, enhanced with semi-active suspension and GPS.
an MV frame bears a signature: two aluminum parts attached to a steel trellis frame. Very similar to that of the Rivale, its structure is slightly wider and the plates are modified to accommodate a center stand. With 160 mm of travel, the suspension is supplied by Marzocchi for the 43 mm inverted fork and Sachs for the shock absorber. Brembo takes care of braking, which is serious without being hypersport. Radial mounting, 4 pistons per caliper and 320 mm discs at the front; 220 mm disc and double-piston caliper at the rear.
The Turismo Veloce's delicate size is also reflected in its 194-kilogram weight. Its fuel tank, with a capacity of 20 liters, looks set for good times.
introduced at the end of 2013, the MV-Agusta 800 Turismo Veloce won't arrive until 2015. You'll find a different, more upscale taste in trail riding with this machine from Varese. The outfit is appealing, the body is sporty and the engine smells of gunpowder. Clearly inclined to winding roads with velocity, the machine expresses its Italian ardor more than its pretension to "country" between roads, paths and fir trees. This MV-Agusta seems to live up to its name.
