presentation of the 800 BRUTALE RR 2016
when the RR logo appears on an MV-Agusta, you can already smell the delicate scent of envy and lust. Varese's creations are not there to amuse, but to excite. And the Brutale 800 does just that. What would you say to giving it even more class and increasing the ardour of the 3-cylinder?! Tempted? Here's something for you with the Brutale 800 RR.
two little letters and you're in business. And a much stronger performance for the Tre Pistoni 798 cm3. With 15 hp more on this version, the Brutale sends out no less than 140 horses. The 125 thoroughbreds of the standard 800 were already shaking things up... The RR will mobilize your emotions without restraint.
With this stud farm, the Brutale gives back just 8 hp to its sporty F3 800 cousin. How did MV find these nags?firstly, by doubling the number of injectors, increasing the diameter of the throttle bodies (from 48 to 50 mm) and designing a new airbox; this necessitated an overhaul of the fuel tank, but without affecting its external shape or capacity.
There's also a little extra torque. But the rider will be looking for the maximum values at higher revs. In any case, you didn't choose an MV to ladle on the fat like on a Harley or a Guzzi Calif... An 800 Brutale RR is a Fast & Furious, just waiting for a good thrill to turn your brain off.
ah, watts, we all like that. Fortunately, the RR doesn't just stand out for its muscular inflation. It's also equipped with a new Marzocchi upside-down fork, made entirely of aluminum; fully adjustable, of course, and 43 mm long. A full kilo lighter, it also features an "aged gold" anodizing and DLC (Diamond Like Carbon) coating. A steering damper is also included. Especially to calm the front axle's excesses. Apart from these goodies, the chassis of this RR is similar to that of the standard 800 Brutale, and therefore hard to fault. A frame combining a tubular steel trellis with aluminum plates, a sturdy monobracket, 320 mm brake tracks and Bembo 4-piston radial calipers - 1 220 mm disc at the rear with a 2-piston caliper, also from Brembo. A revised LED taillight, a new seat and, of course, a price increase.
the Brutale also has a face you just can't get enough of. The RR model is even more delicate and provocative. The profile of the wheels has changed, with 5-spoke rims adding an even more bestial edge. And the little engine cowling is the little extra that should be found on all 675 and 800 brutales.
With each successive Brutale, MV-Agusta fine-tunes its electronics, and the machines from Varese become a little more flexible, moving ever closer to finer engine management. This RR should benefit from a right-hand/engine connection that's finally pleasant. Being brutal has its charm; being capricious and delicate is another matter.
As for safeguards, the rider can largely delegate his enthusiasm to the MVICS platform. The rider lights the fuse, the torrent of power pours forth and is channeled in a multitude of ways. Between the choice of 4 fuel injection maps (Sport, Normal, Rain and Custom), the EAS 2.0 shifter for clutchless upshifting AND downshifting, 8-level deactivatable traction control, and Bosch 9+ ABS, which prevents the rear wheel from taking off under heavy braking, there's more than enough to limit any attempts at satelliteization. Within the limits of physics, of course.
but be careful. Although a host of electronic assistants are available, it's best to take along some riding experience. The MV-Agusta 800 Brutale RR is a cocktail of explosive power and sporty chassis. The silicon chips will never catch up with a claw that swings too hard with this kind of missile. They're there to control the game, not fish you out like Mario Kart. But we'd make the same point with any bike with a high sportiness content. That's where the subtlety lies: keeping your cool with a machine that's as enticing as you like, and with a heart that's ready to smash your face in if you get it too excited.
