presentation of the Tabor 125 2024
Although trail-GT bikes are all the rage, there has never been much on offer in the way of 125s. The Honda 125 Varadero was the best example, but today, no major manufacturer offers a machine of this type for A1 license holders. Fortunately, the outsiders are putting forward a few coustillades to sink their teeth into: Rieju with its Aventura 125, Motron with the X-Nord, Malaguti and its Dune, the 125 Hyper Trail from Zontes - and now Orcal has joined the dance with its 125 Tabor.
An attractive little machine, with volumes that make it look like a larger-displacement machine. You'd swear there was a 500 under there. Dressed with ease, the Tabor reminds us of the old Honda 1200 Crosstourer with a dollop of CB 500 X. The French brand didn't try to copy the world's biggest manufacturer, but the Chinese factory where the bike comes from must not have had the same restraint.
Having the face of an adventurer doesn't mean you'll be doing long-distance raids right from breakfast. Orcal doesn't fool the public, announcing that the "real place of action for the Tabord will be in and around the city". There's nothing to stop you going further afield, but it won't be a panacea for the monocyclinder. With its 4 valves, single camshaft, liquid cooling and Bosch fuel injection, it produces 14.5 hp at 9,500 rpm, almost the legal maximum. Torque peaks at 11.2 Nm at 7,000 rpm. Weighing in at 157 kg dry weight, you won't want to ask the engine to get too revved up, but it'll do just fine for a bucolic, entertaining ride.
The 125 Tabor takes its role with a certain seriousness, featuring an upside-down fork and spoked wheels. On the other hand, the 17" wheels and mixed tires are clearly road-oriented. Standard equipment is rather flattering, with a large, adjustable bubble, package holder, engine guards, center stand, USB socket and full LED lighting. The range promises to be more than substantial, with a minimum fuel consumption of 2.3 L/100 km. The reality will be more demanding, but even at 3 liters, you'll go over 400 km before looking for a service station.
The Orcal trail bike is also very accommodating, with a seat height of just 775 mm. Equipped with a single brake disc per wheel and two-piston calipers at the front and one at the rear, it won't be intimidating under braking, and the ABS will be there to watch out for certain slips.
The Tabor also boasts a rock-bottom price, worthy of attracting a great deal of interest. At 3,590 euros, it's barely more expensive than a 50 with a gearbox.

Not too bad, and relatively interesting (despite the rather high weight) considering how few 125 trailers you can find these days ... Nevertheless, I much preferred my ex Kawasaki 125 KE, bought new in ... 1977! or the Suzuki 125 TS of those years. Rating : 4/5 Respond to Alain81
