presentation of the SRK 700 2023

In China, QJ Motor is the manufacturer that focuses on the sporty image of motorcycles. While its rivals only think of riding the A2 or trail bike wave, QJ Motor takes care to develop an ultra-complete range, from scooters to its own definition of "hyper-sporty" with the SRK 800 RR and the astonishing custom SRV 600 V4.

It's not easy to take on so many industrial challenges at the same time, but QJ Motor does it well, and now its creativity has brought us the SRK 700: a roadster that wants to take you out of your daily routine.

Model size

QJ Motor SRK 700 2023 - 1QJ Motor SRK 700 2023 - 1

The first thing that strikes you about this bike is its size. For a 700 cm3, the bike is extremely slim and svelte. Can you imagine a praying mantis? The SRK 700 looks every inch the mantis! The streamlined optics (full LED lighting) give the bike a strong identity. It's often difficult to design this kind of front end, but the men from QJ Motor have done it very well. The only criticism we can level is that they took their inspiration from a famous Ducati Streetfighter, but let's not get carried away.

The LCD display that serves as instrumentation cleverly completes the front end with a slight fairing at the rear. It's a small detail that completes the picture. As for the rest of the bike, it follows the codes of the market's edgy roadster genre. There's a stylish fuel tank with a 15-liter range. Side scoops link the tank to the liquid-cooling radiator, creating a well-finished profile.

The rear hull is fairly short, and it would appear that we won't be envious of the sandbagger, who will take up the passenger position with a rather reduced seat tip. The rider, on the other hand, will enjoy greater space, with a fairly hollowed-out shape that should make the bike fairly easy to maneuver. Seat height is 790 mm.

QJ Motor SRK 700in front of the rider's eyes is a 4-inch LCD screen. A rather poor piece of equipment on today's medium-displacement roadsters. The blue-background display tries to give the TFT screens a run for their money. It provides essential (and basic) information, including clock, trip, engine temperature and fuel gauge. On either side of the screen, you'll find the indicator lights (oil, engine, neutral, turn signals or ABS). This is a little out of keeping with the queen of the category: Miss Yamaha MT-07. There's also a USB-A port.

Chassis/engine: tried-and-tested solutions

The SRK 700 is based on a tubular perimeter steel frame. The frame is fitted with a 41 mm inverted front fork offering 115 mm of travel. The hydraulic rear shock joins the frame to an asymmetrical banana-type swingarm. Suspension is supplied by Marzocchi.

Braking is provided by a 320 mm-diameter double front disc, bitten by radial-mount 4-piston calipers. The rear features a 260 mm disc. All under ABS control. The 17-inch wheels are fitted with Pirelli Angel 120s at the front and 160s at the rear.

These European equipment choices are reassuring on a bike that could be described as exotic. A dynamic test ride will show that the SRK 700 not only looks good on paper, but also proves its worth in the saddle.

QJ Motor SRK 700the chassis offers 135 mm of ground clearance and weighs in at 196 kg fully loaded.

The engine is based on a fairly common architecture. It's a 693 cm3 vertical twin-cylinder engine set at 180°. It delivers 73.4 hp (54 kW) at 8,000 rpm, and is A2-licensable. Maximum torque is 67 Nm from 6,000 rpm (reduced to 58 Nm at 5,250 rpm with A2 license). Transmission is via a 6-speed gearbox, with chain final drive.

Vmax is rated at 190 km/h, and the Euro5 engine is approved for an average fuel consumption of 4.3 l/100 km, giving a range of 330 km.

Great promises

On paper and in the photos, this SRK 700 has a lot going for it. It appears to be a well-designed motorcycle, without a few "gadget" solutions such as engine modes or a more attractive display. All this enables it to be positioned at 6,990 euros. That's 1,000 euros less than the price of a Yamaha MT 07. This last advantage should put you in doubt, and you should at least go and see it. QJ Motor offers a 3-year warranty on this model, available only in black.
