Royal-Enfields have become more firmly established in the market since the switch to the 650. The Bullet held its own, but with new blood in the range, the Indian brand is making its presence felt. The Interceptor is taking full advantage of this good fortune. RE has therefore selected it to represent, along with its sister Continental GT, the brand's 120th anniversary.

Yes, 120 years. Royal-Enfield is one of the world's oldest manufacturers. Before Harley, before Triumph, before F.N.; after Peugeot. What better way to celebrate than with an anniversary series? No cakes or candles, but a beautiful paint job embellished with a proud coat of arms. Another dark model... but fascinating when you get closer.

Dark , everywhere. The frame, engine, forks, rims, exhausts, amortos... Almost everything. The tank goes a step further, with a black and chrome paint scheme. The result is a striking effect, when you can't tell the difference between night and mirror. An effect that reminds us a little of the special paint used on Kawasaki H2s.

the fuel tank is indeed the center of attention. A brass badge is placed on each edge. These are handcrafted by members of a dynasty specializing in the creation of effigies for Indian temples. Gold edgings are there to give even more cachet, but the highlight is none other than a magnificent coat of arms worthy of a royal family. It bears the words 120 th Anniversary, the number in the series geographically dedicated to it* and the parent company's motto "Made like a gun".

Surprisingly , Royal-Enfield made weapons before it made motorcycles. But not guns: more precisely, parts for the manufacturer of Lee-Enfield rifles. Not to be confused with the Royal Enfield Arsenal. It's easy to understand why Bullet is such a popular name.

A few small accessories make this 650 Interceptor a little more special. A small smoked windscreen, a foam tube on the handlebar reinforcement bar, a brief aluminum engine cover and tubular engine guards. To round off the celebration, a special sticker appears on the under-seat covers.

Production of the 120th Anniversary is limited to 480 units. That would be enough for a single country, but here... This is the total quantity destined for all markets.
So, how do we divide up this small quota to satisfy the planet? For this manufacturer, the world is divided into 4 zones*: Europe - South-East Asia - India - the Americas. Each zone will be entitled to 60 Interceptors and as many Continental GTs. That's 120 machines per zone, for this 120th anniversary.

Royal-Enfield is present in some fifteen European countries. So there won't be many examples for each territory. Or how to provoke a shortage even before the launch...
