presentation of the 1600 CROWN 2011
hogger is an outsider, a real one, one of those always on the lookout for a rocker cover to take apart, who perfumes himself with WD40, and is adept at dressing salads with 15 W 50. He's had his share of Harleys. Wide Glides, Cross Bones, Night Trains, Rockers... Like many, he wanted more, deconstructing his bike to make it unique, drawing inspiration from crazy punk parties where strong hallucinogens drove him into supreme creative delirium. Then Saxon arrived in France, providing him with a new source of inspiration.
between two strokes of the drill and his weekly chrome polish, Hogger found the courage to make an appointment with his banker, just to suffocate him a little with the new lady he's been coveting. Who is she? A Saxon, the CROWN. What immediately appealed to him was its Springer-type parallelogram fork. Very few bikes are equipped with one in our world of fork tubes. Secondly, it was the raw, authentic, stripped-down Saxon look, bordering on neo-modern sculpture, that charmed our aesthete. Violent in style, the Crown doesn't bother with notions like comfort or practicality. It wants to be loved for what it is, to make riding palpable like no other. Its saddle is only present for homologation reasons, supposedly to satisfy a seat. Spoked rims add to the style, Brembo brakes are among the guests, and for show, a big 240 tire always makes an impression.
there's one bike whose enthusiasm has been dampened by European legislation, and that's the big S&S twin. Crossing the Atlantic requires it to lose about ten kilos. Its 1573 cm3 still produce 85 horsepower at the rear wheel. An anecdotal figure, since enthusiasts are more interested in the availability of torque, sensations and vibrations on this kind of machine, worthy of a tuner from the depths of the US.
the Crown is the exact opposite of a lifestyle bike. With its rigid frame, wooden seat and non-existent comfort, you have to live every bump of the road. Its semi-trailer wheelbase, convincing weight of over 280 kilos and warlike riding position demand a minimum of conviction. Once your Saxon is yours, you can be sure of owning something almost unique. Far removed from modern industrialization methods, where millions of bikes are produced, Saxon production is based on craftsmanship, where passion blends with a very '60s style. The rider is back, the Saxon is with him, and Hogger couldn't be happier: no more searching for parts or constantly modifying his custom: the 1600 Crown is SA Crown.
