presentation of the 800 GSX-8R Legend Edition 2024
Suzuki once again pays tribute to the riders who have marked its history. Suzuki Italy to be precise. The Italian importer has become a specialist in this kind of special edition. Last year, a GSX-8S Schwantz replica.... in 2021, GSX-R 1000 R Legend Edition... The GSX-8R takes up this momentum to highlight 4 emblematic characters of the brand.
Marco Lucchinelli, Franco Uncini, Kevin Schwantz, Loris Capirossi - all have worked for Suz'. The first three conquered their world championship titles with a Hamamatsu machine. "Capirex" spent three seasons there, just before concluding his career. It was he who had the solemnity of presenting the Legend edition GSX-8R limited series at the opening of the Turin Motor Show. 20 bikes in historic, emblematic colors.
4 versions are on offer, one for each rider, featuring the graphics of the official bikes they rode in the World Championship. Only 5 of each model are available. Capirossi's 65 is identified with the Rizla team's GSX-RR; Schwantz's famous 34 is reminiscent of the RG 500 in Lucky Strike colors; Uncini's n°13 is more sober; and finally, the Gallina team seems revived with the 5 of "Cavallo Pazzo" Lucchinelli.
Apart from the historic racing themes, these GSX-8Rs only offer the coquetry of a matching seat cover.
To place an order, Italians wishing to purchase these replicas should visit the dedicated site: https: //shop.suzuki.it/moto/GSX-8R-Legend-Edition/, then pay a deposit of 500 euros. All that's left to do is to prepare the rest, i.e. a further 11,000 euros. A symbolic opportunity to let your dreams drift away to the vibrators of yesteryear, to the rhythm of these drivers' fury.
It won't be the same once you're behind the handlebars of the GSX-8R. Suzuki's only sports bike (for the European catalog) is part of the new trend: racy but not radical. It is powered by a 776 cm3 parallel twin, delivering 83 hp and 8 mkg. The chassis is no show-off, but does its job seriously; the riding position is not taxing, and the engine knows how to be appreciated. Technology is at a good level for the category, with 3 engine maps, a 5-inch color TFT screen, 3-step traction control, an Up&Down shifter, the easy-start system and low-rpm assistance. .
