presentation of the 600 GSX-R 2010

Faced with the dazzling R6 and the ultra-light CBR, the GSX-R 600 is struggling to establish its presence in Supersport competition. Will this new generation change all that?

Still slender, still true to its family spirit, the 2008 GSX-R 600 doesn't change radically from the 2007 version. Except for the fork head, even more rapacious than before. New air intakes are integrated under the headlights, and have been moved to the center of the machine. As much as the GSX-Rs of 2001 all looked alike, the new generations of Suzuki sports bikes tend to assert their own personality. With this face, it will no longer be possible to confuse a 1000 with a 600 (and the 750 from which it's derived).

A few aesthetic changes can be seen everywhere. The sides of the fairing have changed significantly, with notches to separate them from the air intake gills. A new, longer pot extends the plenum under the engine (hasn't Suzuki been convinced by the MotoGP-style side pot?). The rear end has been minimally reworked, but what we're really looking for are technological innovations. Like the 1000 GSX-R (and all Suzuki sports bikes from now on), the 600 is equipped with the S-DMS system, which allows you to select several mappings. Will this system really be necessary on a 600? Ok for an overpowered 1000 where there's a lot of horsepower to manage; but on a medium-displacement bike...

Suzuki 600 GSX-R 2010 - 1Suzuki 600 GSX-R 2010 - 1
a medium-displacement bike that defends itself well in terms of power, with 125 hp. This value remains identical to the previous vintage, albeit with a slight improvement in torque. Which is not to say that engine manufacturers have been sitting on their hands. Anti-pollution standards have imposed greater exhaust volume and other power-sapping restrictions. As a result, the little gex has gained horsepower, even if this isn't visible on the technical data sheet - it'll be much clearer on the track in full throttle, with an exhaust system that lets you breathe more easily. We can only hope that Suz has also improved mid-range availability, for greater efficiency and ever more pleasant availability on the road

The pleasant surprise comes from the price of the gex 2008. We were still expecting a good slap in the face, given the strangling prices that are rampant even on 600s (the Yamaha R6 now exceeds 11,000 euros), and we discover that the 600 GSX-R is the least expensive of the supersports. It may not be the most time-efficient, but its price tag of close to 10,000 euros could well overshadow its classmates.

After testing this "little" 600, I'm blown away by the performance for such a small displacement.when you hit the revs, 16000, it becomes thrilling, in 2nd at 175 when the breaker panics.their system of 3 possible modes of injection mapping is brilliant, because as soon as the road becomes slippery, put the mode c, and the bike becomes much more flexible, and as soon as the sun arrives, put the mode A and beat the time.just lacks a little torque, I'm used to the twin ... The muffler is bigger, simply because motorcycles in 2008 have to comply with Euro3 emission standards. It's not at all because of the look of the GP muffler

This new GSXR is well and truly scheduled for 2008, it's not a fake (like the disappearance of the V1000 engine range (DL1000, SV1000) as well as the 1400, GSE500 etc).
